How can you extend the memory of the computer – RAM? To make the computer run faster.

No guarantee it will run faster, but buy more sticks of RAM, usually you can go up to 4GB , but with XP don't buy more than 2GB of RAM. XP won't use the rest efficiently.

RAM - ddr 400 - ddr2 -566-800 - this is for programs like office, corel, adobe.
For games, you need a better video card.
Why you need a fast processor? This is no more such important as 3-5 years ago. If you have a Pentium 3 - 1Ghz, with 1 GB ddr 400 and a nVIDIA 7800 AGP, this computer will do almost all of your work. Processor is not so important as memory RAM or video card for a home PC.

well you need to buy ram that will match the type of ram that you have now. once you do that install it according to the manufacturer's instructions.
