Ulysses is a really inspiring story. It inspired me to never give up. Even though he has been trying to reach home, millions of people attack him, he never gives up hope to reach home. Its a really inspiring tale and i love it! recommended for 6-8 graders!

His real name is Odysseus - The romans took all the greek names and replaced them with their own - Zeus became Jupiter, Ares became Mars, etc.

Homer wrote of him in his two epic poems, The Illiad, and the Oddyssey

He angered some gods, and found favour in others. he eventually returns from the Trojan war, in which he played a key role (the Idea of the wooden horse was his), after several years of being lost at sea.

I think these stories are amazing, and inspiring. Although they are considered mythical, they are based around historical events, and the heroes were real people, unlike today's hollywood heroes.

I read the Odyssey by Homer translated by R. Fitzgerald in College and found it to be a great read and worth the effort. If you liked it might I suggest the Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien.
