I used to . . .
The best way I found to discourage slugs or snails is used coffee grounds. Sounds odd but it really works! Scrape it all out of the filter and put it in a ring round the plants you want to protect. They won't go near the stuff. Works like a charm!
Plus, if your neighbours throw all theirs into your garden, they'll go back . . .

No, they could just as well come back to your garden. Why do that. They probably already have them like you do. You can kill them by putting salt on the slugs, they just disappear, or get the other stuff that kills them that you can buy in the store. Save the neighborhood.

when i was living at my parents house, me and my dad use to put a little bit of salt on the slugs, not too much, just enough to make them into a little ball.
We then use to put the on a tee and use a 9 iron to hit it the lenght of our back garden, over our neighbours garden and even over their house.
Once i got their bathroom window, funny as hell.
For some reason, we didn't get many snails, and when we did try to hit them over the garden, bits of shell went everywhere. yuck!

No way jose! I hate slugs! I wouldn't want to sick them on someone else. However, if it is the neighbor's dog terds, I do flick the terds with a shovel back where they belong

HA HA HA I WOULD IF I COULD THEY HAVE THE NOISIEST AND THE MOST SPOILT KIDS IN THE WORLD!!! BETTER IF I COULD FEED THEM SLUGS, BUT I DON'T HAVE A GARDEN JUST A WINDOW THAT FACES THE BLIPPING NEXT DOOR ONE, FULL OF BABY SCREAMERS THAT ARE AT THEIR LOUDEST ON SUNNY SUNDAY MORNINGS IN THE SUMMER WHEN I HAVE TO OPEN MY WINDOWS!!!

EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW I hate slugs !! but thats not a bad idea if you hate your neighbours unfortunately mine are ok I would chuck the doggy poo's only they dont have dogs tee hee !!!

No but I throw the pine cones from my yard into my neighbors yard or in the street in front of his driveway cuz he is a real anal pprick and I know it drives him nuts. Especially since he thinks it just happens naturally.

No way! I pour salt on them and kill them all so they don't eat my plants or my neighbor's plants.
Besides my neighbor's are all wonderful.
If you live really close, once they eat your neighbor's stuff they'll come after yours anyhow. So why bother? That would be rude!
