Is it possible for actors, especially male ones to fake love scenes without getting aroused? Some scenes seem very realistic.

Well, think of it this way. You're in bed with a woman you've been working professionally with for a few months already, you've got a good rapport but don't fancy each other, it's bloody freezing becasue the studio is huge and the sheets aren't warm, you're trying to control your goose pimples and concentrate on saying (or breathing) the right lines or noises at the right moment, without getting a fit of the giggles or inadvertantly swallowing your co-star's hair. She's trying not to giggle as she's freezing as well and someone's just told her to move her elbow because the shot's not quite right yet and you've accidentally tickled her. You're both a little embarrassed by the camera waving around your left ear and the little short fat chap shouting directions at you in your right.

Oh yes, and if you're really unlucky, they tape it up to your belly with elastoplast so it can't genuinely get in the way - over all yer fuzz, so trying not to tear that off by accident's going to calm things down a bit!

What you see on screen bears no resemblance to the actual shambolic yet clinical atmosphere in the studios. That's why actors get paid so much to fake stuff!

Dude, of course they get aroused...the acting part is the non-penetration part. And if they are doing more than one take...there is no way to keep the lil' member down when Angelina Jolie is pillow humping you...or Jessica Alba...or Jamie Pressley (wasn't she the best in Poison Ivy 3?). They might say that they are acting the scene, but I believe that they are seriously into it and use acting as an excuse. Men can't really hide it, but the women can cuz they don't get bulges...

And if the bulge is spotted, all the males on the set will totally understand...anyway, if he has a stiffy it doesn't matter cuz they aren't really filming that part...

The only thing I can think of is maybe they do what this one guy I know does when he dress' like a woman, he tapes it back so that way no one can see it. So I am guessing that if it is taped down and when willie wants to wonder, it won't be able to go any where and it won't show. Not 100% certain, but just a guess?

In my case I would take myself to a private area for a little while, have a quick one off the wrist, and after that I would probably be okay for 15-20 minutes

while it appears as a viewer to be very realistic, there are dozens of people standing around, and most of the "action" is almost completely choreagraphed. imagine someone off to the side yelling "turn your head a little bit! this is looking a little sloppy!!" then, it would be harder to imagine getting an erection on set. if someone does, i am sure they just laugh about it.

LOL
LOL
Back in the old black and white days of movies, 30's and 40's...a lot! of actors(male)...had affairs, with their leading ladies...
Some even re-married, to have that one true love.
Bogart left his wife...for L.B.!
And it was the norm...today their are strick guidelines....
Crock-Dundee, Paul Hogan...left his Mrs, for the woman
who played the lead in that movie?(forgotten her name-oops)

It is all about control, for a lot of male actors....but!
some just can't help ...that lust.
It's all about timing too....

They say that it is their job .Makes you wonder what happens off screen. Could contribute to the high divorce rate in Hollywood.

It actually isn't really that romantic with a huge crew around you. But if anything "pops up", they're professional - they just work around it.
