communication barrier: two people who don't speak the same language, a deaf person and a hearing person trying to have a conversation when the speaking person doesn't know sign language

communication gap: when two people or more are speaking together but just don't understand what the other has to say. Often, you'll find there is a generation gap (30 year age difference) when there is a communication gap: older parents trying to understand the life of teens today.

Communication Gap-a husband and wife who speak the same language just don't understand each other. She says one thing and he hears something else.

Dates aren't as important to men as they are women (in general). A guy may be really crazy about you, but completely forget your birthday or anniversary. It would help to know this guy's relationship to you before giving any tips/advice on how to get the information in from of him next time (other than just telling him in conversation).
