Check with the office to see what their protocol is , also check with other OB's to see when they do their exams, you should never be afraid to ask questions, a good midwife or doctor welcomes them.

If by Booking appointment you mean your first appointment at about 6 weeks into the pregnancy, there would be no need to listen for the heartbeat. It can't be heard by the Doppler they would use until about 9 - 10 weeks. If she used it at 6 weeks, you wouldn't hear anything except maybe your own heartbeat as your blood moved through your veins.

And as far as examining you, if you were 6 weeks, what is there to examine? Your uterus hasn't grown much, if at all, and anyone who is doing a vaginal exam at that point is just doing it for show for the mom.

The first, 6 week appointment is basically to confirm your pregnancy in the office by doing a pregnancy test, maybe doing some blood work, and a time for you to ask any questions on pregnancy, how often you have to go to see the midwife, and how to deal with any symptoms you may be having. It's not a time for poking and prodding because pregnancy is not an illness, it's a normal life event for most women. OB's seem to poke and prod more, but that's because that's what they've been trained to do. Midwives listen to the mom, and really care how your whole body is feeling, emotionally and physically, not just your uterus.

it truly is difficult regardless of if not now impossible to take heed to a children heartbeat utilising a doppler earlier 12 weeks, notwithstanding, they are commonly heard fairly obviously at 16 weeks utilising the same kit. it truly is unusual for midwives at the moment now to not have a doppler, yet, with the NHS the way it isn't something isn't possible. If she in effortless words had a pinards (slightly trumpet ) then it truly is fantastically a lot now impossible to p.c.. up a 16 week fetus. in case your midwife has a doppler she must have listened, it really is an important element of an antenatal exam. See what occurs next time, if she refuses again ask her why, or, if she pulls out her doppler ask her why she did not hear very last time. in case your'e not satisfied consisting of her answer or her body of ideas *****.

they dont start checking the heartbeat until you are so many weeks. and as far as an internal exam. I didnt get one until I was 35 weeks... It all just depends on how far you are. Did you have bloodwork done cause they can tell alot of things by that as well.

Absolutely not. They are supposed to check the heartbeat of the baby every time you come in no matter what. Laziness is what it is.
