It's really weird, we have hot water when we turn on the faucets, but when we go to take a shower, the water is only hot for a minute or so.... I don't get how that can be. If anyone has any ideas why that is and how I can fix it, they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Maybe there isn't enough hot water in the tank to run all the way through the pipes.. Which would be caused by a bad element..

How old is the water tank? If more than 10 years old, it's time to replace it. The problem sounds like a malfunctioning thermocouple. It is supposed to sense cold water and open the gas jet.

Yup...there's something wrong with your hot water tank. It could be anything from a coupling to the pilot. They don't last long anymore, unfortunately.
