there could be a lot of differnt reasons for this:
1-- probably most people would say you should get checked for ADD // ADHD ... which may very well be the case.
2-- think about what classes/subject this happens in... you may just not be as interested in those certain classes/subjects.
3-- think about what it is your mind wanders too, if it usually goes to the same topic, (i.e. a special someone, you could just be in love) you may just be preoccupied with something for the time being.
4-- you may be the type of person that is naturally more of a hands-on learner. my university made us all take a personality/psychology test to show us what type of learners we are, and some people respond better to hands-on learning over learning from reading and lectures.
5-- you said that you can concentrate for about 50 minutes, well, that is a good amount of time to be able to focus, (so you probably dont have ADD // ADHD) it could just be that you need study breaks!!
hope that helps! =)

There seems to be some conflict here. What are you considering a few minutes? Does that include the 45 to 50 minutes?
Consider your answers to these questions:
•What are you studying?
•How long does it take you to understand/retain the concepts?
•What is the history of your study habits?
•Do you spend an equal amount of time on the most difficult and easiest subjects?
•How would you rate your discipline level for school overall?
Many times we have to (self) discipline ourselves to behave accordingly to things that we find are not fun, boring or tedious.
In the end, it is worth it. I’m not sure if you are in high school or college. But, I will add this, many times employers like to hire those with diplomas and degrees because it shows that the discipline and self-control is there in which it takes a lot of to complete any task. No matter the obstacles, you saw your taks through.

Sometimes your brain needs a break. As long as you go back to studying after a little break, it's ok. Too much studying at once can put your brain on overload and then you will lose the information you've gained...
Breaks are ok - but just train yourself to be on a schedule. Sometimes, you just have to plug through. It will get easier - never any less tedious or time consuming, but it will gradually get easier.

45-50 minutes is not that bad. Give yourself a little break.. but write yourself a note to encourage yourself to get back to the studying. You may want to adjust your thinking about studying.
Or you may just have to realize that part of "growing up" is applying yourself to work which may not always be fun and may just have to be done.

Could be nothing wrong. Studying is boring. If you are worried, though, then you could get evaluated to see if you are ADD.
