If I can get 1 almost 2 fingers in the opening of my cervix am i 2cm dilated? cant reach higher than opening?

I can reach the opening and get almost 2 fingers in but i cant reach higher is it the same openness all the way up? And when i check my cervix theres alot of snot like thicker whiteish discharge is that normal?

I wanted to add that doc says my cervix is short and very soft and yes i washed my hands before and after scrubbed with a nail brush this is my 5th pregnancy.

I am not sure but I thought when doctors could get 2 fingers in it meant 3 cm. I was 3 1/2 cm for two weeks before I was induced. Just be careful doing that and make sure your hands are really really clean so you wont cause an infection. Good luck and congrats on your baby.

Good for you for not being afraid of your own body! If you can fit 2 fingers in tightly, it probably means you are around 3 cm. Your cervix may be different at the top (like a bottleneck) but if you're saying your cervix is already shortened, then I'd say it's probably about the same up top.

The discharge should be normal, as long as it's not as white or smelly as it can be with a yeast infection.

The fact that you can reach your cervix is another sign labor is going to be coming soon, since it means your cervix is lined up with your birth canal.

Please remember you don't want to be doing internals if your water has broken because it can lead to an infection a lot quicker and easier than when you do an internal exam with your water bag intact.
