Scam!!!

There is no such thing as this lottery. Even if you enter contests online, this is not going to get you an entry into real life lottery. The only way a lottery works is by taking money in via entry fees. The only way a lottery pays out is to actually pay people who purchased a ticket.

Can you imagine how Americans would react if they found out that the latest Powerball winner was Abdul Mohammed from Iran who had never even paid for a ticket?

No country is ever going to have a lottery that randomly gives away money to foreign people for no reason.

The purpose of this scam is to obtain personal information about you. The counterfeit check is designed to make it look more real. If your bank accepts it, they will discover it to be a fake long before the money goes into you bank account. By depositing it or cashing it you are risking releasing personal information to the fraudsters who could use this to empty your bank account and more.

Never contact them, destroy the check. You've not won any money.

There are no "unclaimed funds". In order to claim winnings, you must have the winning ticket. If no one claims the prize after a certain time (usually a year), then the lottery keeps the money.
