There have been almost 10 or so official and non-canon Metal Gear games released in the franchise by Konami and licensed publishers, so you may want to be more specific...
If you want to play the original 8-bit Metal Gear Games for the MSX or Nintendo NES systems, you can easily find emulators for each platform and ROMs of the game.
If you want the more modern 3D Metal Gear Solid games, #1 and #2 were released for PC by Microsoft and Konami, respectively.

Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 have been ported to PC, not sure about the other ones. You may need to ring your local second hand game store for a copy.

Well i have not played that game but it might be Press Esc during gameplay their will be option called SAVE GAME Many games does not have that option and your game will be saved only after you complete the whole level like Devil May Cry 4 etc.. Hope this helps.

if you have a ps1 cd of metal gear you can download a psx emulator & you can now play that on your pc..
