is it wrong that i know i'm really sharp, and i love it, i won't associate with people who don't make an effort to better themselves, i feel like i'm not better, i'm just working harder, and it's hard to find other people that work as hard as i do to stay sharp, i don't drink or do drugs, i'm allways finding something new to read, and learn..this isn't arrogance is it?

i do feel humnility and compassion..and what does what jesus said have to do with this? i do understand people, and i do help people, but i refuse to get close to people who won't help themselves, sure i'd help them and all, but they have to dig themselves out for themselves, nobody can do that for them.

No not at all ..in fact i admire you for that. Surrounding yourself with people of intelligence and not poisoning your body..i see nothing wrong with that. But never look down on those who don't have the same integrity as you because then you would look arrogant...ur a good person..

There's nothing wrong with that mentality as long as it doesn't affect your treatment/judgment of others. (and your ego doesnt get too big. hehe) But unfortunately, your mentality does describe arrogance.

I used to have the same mentality i thought i was hardworking, nice, smart, pretty, educated, and ambitious. So i dont associate with people that were less ambitious. But looks can be deceiving you don't know what the other person went through. If you keep feeding your ego slowly you would start to become condescending towards other "less ambitious" people. Don't be dominated by the superiority feelings, try to be understanding even if their priorities are different than yours.

While i still feel anyone can do well if they work hard, i try to humble myself whenever i get those thoughts and remind myself that i am not perfect either. Even if i am supposely "better" i dont have the right to treat others as if they were inferior.

be careful that you don't spend life disconnected because no one seems to measure up to your standards. this is particularly true in relationships.

If I judged people by my standards I would be very alone. I am really hard on myself and strive to be better in everything, but I understand that this is not for everyone at it doesn't make others less worthy of compassion, or respect in their personal achievements.

so while you're trying to be as good as you can be, just remember the world can go on very easily without you. Judge yourself and not others.

There you go Humility, Empathy and Compassion; a few more things you should try mastering. Then you'll have my respect.

Jesus said to the rich young ruler... "there is something you still lack..."
In your case it could be humility, compassion, empathy, understanding, honest self-assessment, caring.... I'll stop there.
But you are not without hope.
God still loves you even if some people would find you intolerable.
And there really isn't anything wrong with loving yourself, Jesus also said we are to love our neighbor as ourselves and so if you really love yourself then your neighbors ought to be really blessed.

No, you have to love yourself before you can give love. The thing about it is you're so focused on yourself that you aren't giving what you have. Why not encourage or inspire someone to a better place like you've achieved rather than gloating about it?
