Where did u get this from?
There is nothing in the Koran that says music is haram! all islamic countries have music industries, artists both males and females!

In a nut shell, music is not haram

Not all. The opinion that says that music is haram (forbidden) in Islam is based on the Hanbalite juristic concept of "closing all doors to sin". But this concept is not widely accepted in the world of Islamic jurisprudence because if that's to be the case, then we should also forbid grapes for instance because wine which is haram is made from grapes.

When we're confused, just remember that Islam is made plain and easy for us. The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself said that he was sent with an easy Hanafiyyah (i.e. Islamic monotheism). So, as long as the music wont lead us to commit sin or blasphemy against God, then it's allowed and not forbidden.

God knows best

You are addressing Muslims as a whole. This question should be geared at certain types of Muslims because there are many different races of Muslims and so many different sects. If you are asking about how music is viewed coming from the perspective of a Muslim who strictly follows the Quran and Sunnah(the way of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH), then the answer would be that music is prohibited if it has musical instruments. The only instrument allowed is the duff without anything attached to it. Yes, there are many Muslims worlwide who listen to music. Our Prophet has said "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, drinking alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments as lawful......"
There are other sayings of him about music being unlawful. It is the Muslims who adjust their lifestyles to fit society. So, to answer your question, music is haram. Have you ever heard about the singer Cat Stevens who became Muslim. He knew music was haram so he gave up singing with musical instruments and records only songs which are acceptable in Islam.

From what I have learned, use of musical instruments is Haraam (unlawful or prohibited).
The only Halaal (lawful) instrument that I know of is a certain kind of drum. I think that it is called a "duff" [I am not sure about the spelling]
According to hadith, the Prophet (pbuh) has said to the effect that: "I have been sent to destroy musical instruments" and "Music causes hypocrisy in the heart, just as water causes plants to grow".
Since there are conflicting views from other answerers, I think that you should consult a religious scholar on this matter.

All music are halal to Muslims -

EXCEPT, music such as "Jesus Walks" by Kayne West, it's religious and talks about another religion's belief.

But I'm pretty positive that you can listen to music such as that as long as you don't give into the lyrics.

We, Muslims, are aloud to listen to what ever we want, whether its religious to another religon or not, as long as we don't (quote) worship and/or give in to the lyrics.

Peace my Friend.
