Some hate out of fear, ignorance, lack of education, a bad experience... Others prefer to believe what they hear in the media. I find it sad that otherwise nice and decent people attack others based on their religion. Booh and I disagree on MANY things but I think in reality, if we put our different views on Islam aside, we could and would be friends.
I try my best to accept and respect all religions even if I don't agree with them. I defend Islam because my husband is Muslim and he is the best thing in my life. His family treats me like a princess, they love me and accept that I am not a practicing Christian or Muslim. They respect who I am. I love living in a Muslim country, though I will admit that is not like Saudi Arabia or Iran where they are known for extreme acts towards some women and criminals. I feel very safe and accepted by the people here.

I hate Christianity and Islam equally so don't take it personally. They are at their core hateful, ugly, intolerant violent belief systems. If all of the Muslim world and Christian world followedv all their beliefs by the book all the time the world would be in a constant bloodbath state rivaling World War 2. Just look at Iran with young girls being stoned or hung for having sex,and in some cases for being raped or the victims of incest. And you can say that Islam doesn't teach this all you want but the fact is that I have never seen anything that says that a death sentence is not appropriate for adultry or fornication in Islam, just as the Bible calls for death for the same "sins" Just because a large portion of any religion tones it down for a while not commiting these atrocities in the names of their Gods for awhile does not mean it's not sitting their in the writings waiting for another madman somewhere to revive these brutal practices. The Abrahamic religions are the bloodiest most violent religions on earth since the Aztecs. In fact I find it funny that the Christian world loves so much to talk about the violent nature of some of the ancient religions, while failing to recognize that in the end it was the Christians that ended up destroying many of those supposedly violent cultures. It's almost laughable, and Islam has many examples in their own history of that exact same type of total hypocrisy. So take it as you will, but I have zero respect for anything that teaches as much hatred and intolerance of others as Christianity and Islam.

I don't believe people hate Islam. They hate the violent acts and repression which Islamic Fundamentalists represent and act upon. There is a war of ideology. Freedom vs repression and unfortunately, there are many in the Islamic world who are in favor of the opression of women and anyone who disagrees with their narrow view of the world. I am not saying it is all Muslims, but for the ones who exercise violence in the name of repression, there will always be negative reaction from people who love freedom and will do anything they have to to preserve it. It isn't going to go away any time soon. It is a terrible situation with terrible acts and terrible loss is the result.

Read this from excerpt Rev. Rick Mathes:
Allah or Jesus?
by Rev. Rick Mathes (U.S. Prison Ministry)
Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers
representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their belief systems. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with
a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked:
"Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!"
I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and
command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
He sheepishly replied, "Yes."
I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine the
Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr.
Charles Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to Heaven!"
The Imam was speechless.
I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question.
"Would you rather have your Allah who tells you to kill me in order to go to Heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be with me?"
(End of excerpt)
I am a Christian. I think this pretty much sums up the problem we "infidels" have with the Muslem religion. I know that there are good and peaceful people who practice the Muslim faith but I can't understand for the life of me, why they would follow teachings based on violence and murder.

my dear lady, i think u have to give alot of thought, to ppl who have left islam. alot of non muslims will talk rubbish abt it and u cant really give to much thought inot their answers, but ex muslims were born muslims and have a good knowledge on islam. if ppl follow the quran literally word 4 word, all non muslims would be dead. some muslims maybe are treated badly by there families, such as muslim women. some muslim men can be very abusive and beat the women, which is ok coz the quran says a light beating is ok, if women does not do what man says. if u were a muslim and are husband beat u since u did not do what he says, wouldn't u hate islam for teaching these kind of things

Do I hate Islam? No. I only feel strong about it when I'm angry. But I have a huge problem with it, and I always will, and I'm not ashamed to admit that. It's not shameful to have a problem with a religion that wants me dead for leaving it, a religion that makes me live a double life, a religion that keeps all of my thoughts and feelings silenced and gives me no rights and no freedoms. Ex-Muslims are killed under Islamic law.

It's difficult to like Islam at the present time. At best it can be tolerated but personally I'd be glad to see the back of it.
