Let's be honest. We really became frustrated when we met an uncivilized enemy who was willing to use his own family as human shields.
No one knew any civilized way to fight an enemy who shoots at us from behind his own wife and children, and we still don't know how.
I defy anybody, Democrat or Republican or anyone in the entire civilized world, to come up with the answer.
Please don't say that we shouldn't be in Iraq, because we will have to confront this problem almost anywhere we turn, and maybe even here in the U.S. --You jumping ship won't help yourself or your family.

KRAZY KAT---That's a cop-out. You don't have an answer; so how do you know who's right or who's wrong. If Bush is wrong, that doesn't make you right.

IWASNOTAN--So that's yor answer as to how we should fight the terrorists.--If we blame Bush; they will throw down their weapons and run like hell?
Good plan.

LAMPLIGHT--Responsible for what?--Not knowing how to fight an enemy that you or anyone else knows how to fight?

FISHBALL---Finally an answer from the brain instead of the nerve endings.

Too bad we can't channel some of that energy for political hatred toward the terrorists.

BERT T---When people hate you so much that they are willing to fly passenger planes into your most important buildings and strap explosives to their own bodies to blow up your unarmed civillians, it's hard to believe that they are not already "pi-ssed off" at us, and the other western countries after 9/11 will be afraid to be identified as our friends. They are like rats leaving a sinking ship. They are afraid their association with us will make them, also, a target for terrorists.

I am sure the new man in charge Lt Gen David Petraeus has a very good and real answer. He proved it. All the good General now need is "time" - it depends on Washington, the top brass, and the American people. I pray he succeeds in his mission.

Personally I don't think the US has lost anything so far in Iraq except of course the brave who died doing their duty.

At the end of the day only Iraqis can determine the fate of their country. America has given Iraqis a window of opportunity but if they themselves go about blowing up each other the country will cease to be no more - the US can not be faulted for this eventuality. President George W Bush has done his duty. To the best of his ability.

A scapegoat is someone who wrongfully is blamed. As Lamplight said and you ignored, Bush is responsible. Following your reasoning, OBL is a scapegoat for 9/11. OBL planned it and he gets the blame. Bush and his cronies planned the Iraq invasion and get the blame.

Again, if this war was run by a Democratic president, you would be going nuts.

When you face an enemy that has no regard for his life nor those around him you have lost if you have more regard than him.

The moral high ground argument is ridiculous. To loose with dignity is still a loss and the victor will strip you of it(ask the Jews). To fight to win is often unpleasant because many die who are not directly fighting. They are not innocent though as they allow themselves to be used.We must see them as they are the enemy. We could not grasp it in Korea, we could not grasp it in Vietnam and we are not grasping it now.
This tactic is successful defensively and is becoming more and more successful offensively.Soon it will be exported and used as an attack and we will still not grasp it.

I cant give you an effective strategy for Iraq. We've pissed those people off so badly it'll be a wonder if any of them will EVER stand with us. One thing is, we need to get them on our side and feeling strong enough to stand up to this bombers. As long as these guys strapping bombs to their chests feel as though they are martyrs, it will continue. I think one thing I would od immediately is ship over about 100,000 bomb sniffing dogs and their handlers, set them up in bunkers along roadsides to detect car bombs and the like. So many of these things get through to civilians I dont think theres a very effective program for detecting explosives on people and in vehicles.

But I can tell you what I would do in Afghanistan....

In a country that size, I have to beloieve there are a finite number of caves or other places in which Osama bin Laden could hide, correct? We start at one end of the country, either demoing them flat or filling them in with concrete. "When your enemy goes to ground, give him no ground to go to" Eventually you will have to either find Osama (or his corpse) and we can finally bring the man responsible for the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon to justice.

You for sure have it backwards. > you're actually unable to point out ANY mess ups of Republican coverage. > YOU DEMOCRATS blame Bush for each thing YOU DEMANDED for the final 5 years. listed under are some random info, courtesy of the Bureau of hard paintings statistics: we've a tendency to have extra entire private employment while we've extra REPUBLICANS in D.C. First time interest seekers have a tendency to discover extra JOBS while we've extra REPUBLICANS in D.C. the conventional Unemployment fee has a tendency to be decrease while we've extra REPUBLICANS in D.C. i might ask what you could desire to assessment with that, yet absolutely everyone know you have not something.

It's called containment. Cut off support, make them take care of themselves, and stay out of it with a containment field up and ready.

"Can we ,now, stop using Bush as a scapegoat?"

Bush was never a scapegoat. He was always responsible, and he continues to be responsible.

Edit:

No. Not fighting the real enemy.
