The bruising and the grotesque swelling will come down in around 4-6 weeks, depending on how extensive an operation you have had. The skin over the nose will look a bit thicker and you will keep improving till around a year after the operation. But after 6 weeks, people shouldnt be staring at your nose anymore. The first two weeks after the operation are the worst and you may need time off.

If you are having a reduction rhinoplasty, and especially if you are having a wide tip of the nose shaped, there is a small risk of causing some nasal obstruction. It really depends on the nose you are aiming for. The surgeon will be aware of this risk and will usually try to prevent this, even if it means that the nose after the operation is not perfect. In my experience, this complication is not common. Make sure you discuss all your concerns with the surgeon before the operation. It is a good operation in the hands of a good surgeon, if your aims are realistic. But complications do occur to the best of surgeons.

I had one about almost 2 years ago. It took about 2 weeks for me to feel comfortable enough to go out in public and see friends, etc.. After this short time period no one really noticed anything (ie; swelling) except for me and a few close friends. It took about a year for me to see the finished product because it finally set after this time. I would say 3 months should be plenty of time to get it done and feel comfortable about it. After about a month I already like my new nose so much better! Good Luck!!

I watched extreme makeover last week and they said the swelling takes 6-12 months to completely go down! Oh wait, you said bruising, sorry. Id say a couple of weeks as thats how long bruises normally last. Bex x

Mine took around two weeks for the worst, then another two weeks for some more, then one hell of a lot of weeks for it to finally clear.
Think of any bruise that you have ever had or seen, its just the same and in fact depends on your personal metabolism to some degree.

Nose job surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
