Go to your nearest fast food joint- order a greasy cheeseburger, fries and cola....proceed to drive with your knee on the steering wheel while stuffing fries into your mouth with one hand and holding your cheeseburger with your other, oh yeah, and chew with your mouth totally open...
So gross.... People, stop eating and driving! I swear it's just as bad as drunk driving..... Take the time to make a dinner at home and eat with your family- you'd be surprised at how nice it could turn out to be!

We are made up of many cultures so there is not one custom that is followed, depending on where you are can dictate the custom. But there are a few things that we do consider rude, like talking with your mouth full, interrupting other people that are talking, putting your elbows on the table, talking on your cell phone while at the dinner table, singing at the table, and belching.

Eating customs differ from place to place. In my home we sit at the table, use eating instruments and use a napkin to wipe the mouth. Never talk with food in your mouth. Wait your turn to talk and never interrupt someone when they are talking.
Some people in the South put peanuts in their colas but I have never done that and I was born in the South.
I would say people make up their own ways of eating here.

Put napkin on your lap. Use the small fork for your salad and the large fork for your meal. Use the big spoon for soup, the small spoon for dessert, coffee, etc. Use the knife with fork to cut meat into bite size pieces. Do not put elbows on the table. Do not chew with your mouth open.
Of course, all these rules (except chewing while talking or with your mouth open) may be done away with if you stop at McDonalds, Wendy's or any fast food place! :-)

Not sure what you meant by the question - but I'll have a go.
I spent a year in the USA in 1987/88 and I learnt some neat (bad?) habits!!
Dip my popcorn into my icecream cone at the movies.
Eat icecream with birthday cake.
Eat something salty along with icecream (eg saltines).
Lunches provided/available at school served on a tray.
Always (?) tip at restaurants.
