Wash it with a "clarifying" shampoo. Try pantene. It is a great shampoo that removes residual hair products without stripping or drying your hair. Condition well because hair spray has lots of alcohol, which dries your hair out.

You should use a CLARIFYING shampoo. Use this no more than 1x per week though. Clarifying shampoos have a much different PH (acidity level) than your regular shampoo, therefore, can dry out and damage the hair if used more than once a week. Always follow a clarifying shampoo with a really intense high protein conditioner. This will do the trick, promise.... I use this and recommend this to all of my clients that love their products. Good luck!

To get rid of all of the junk in your hair after an updo, the best and cheapest way I've found is to wash your hair once, like normal. Then wash it again with a handful of baking soda and a little shampoo to help it spread through your hair easier. Then wash it again, like normal. Make sure you remember to condition your hair after washing it all three times.

HIGH Soda Shampoo by Fresh (www.fresh.com)
Soda shampoo is formulated with baking soda bubbles, which adds volume while simultaneously removing residue from product buildup. The stimulating mint and lavender waters revitalize the scalp and enhance body and shine, while the grapefruit gives it an exhilarating scent. This shampoo is ideal for all hair types and best used weekly for clarifying action.

**Awesome stuff and gentle**

Put about a tablespoon of baking soda in your hand and then add your shampoo, wash your hair and it will get rid of all the hair spray, gel, etc. that has stayed in your hair, and it will come out extremely clean... Then use your conditioner too.

distilled white vinegar. It will remove all buildup, excess oils, and many other things. But it will dry out your hair and make it smell like a salad. I recommend using a good conditioner after.

first brush it then wash it with a clarifying shampoo...pantene is good...then condition it well n blow dry it if u dont have time to style it...to prevent buildup, use homemade hairspray.
