Because commitment is unnatural and a total denial of love. If you love 'someone', you also love EVERYONE, because love is inclusive, NEVER exclusive. Therefore it is impossible to commit and even more impossible to marry. Only those that are dumb, fearful and selfish can commit. If you loved someone (like you pretend you do) then you would never expect them to commit to you. You can deny this, but it is an incontrovertible TRUTH.

Because, true commitment means a whole new way of life, especially if the commitment leads to marriage.
When guys are not committed, they come and go as they please, with no one to answer to. They can hook up with a different women every night (hump and dump). They eat what they want, when they want. They can be in 3 golf leagues and 3 softball leagues and spend six nights a week in a bar with their buddies.
Guys that actually commit and take the next step towards a long term relationship, and possibly marriage foresee eventual changes: such as one golf and one softball night (not 6X) a week; having to do home maintenance (cut grass, paint, snowblow the driveway, doing laundry (wash, fold, put away); staying home on a Friday night on the couch. The biggest fear from most men are kids. They all want to have kids, yet they don't want the responsibilities of the diaper changing, late nigt feedings and being responsible for another human being, besides themself.
Case in point: had a friend that dated a girl for 13 years (started dating her 1 year after my wife and I started dating). We got married (house, kids, etc.), they broke up. We've been together for 22 years. He is still single at 41 and plans on dieing alone.
If they can't committ after a couple of years, your just wasting your time. Most say "what if someone better comes along?" They are basically saying "I am unhappy with the person I am currently with and hoping to do better."

Actually women are just as afraid of commitment as well: if you're in the US women initiate 70% of divorces. I don't know what the numbers are in the UK, but I believe they are similar. Men hesitate to start a commitment because they actually believe in what a commitment is: you don't start one unless you're willing to ride it all the way. Women on the other hand are quick to jump into commitments, but just as quick to jump out. All things considered, it is better to wait for the right one, than to break commitment willy nilly.

it is relatively selfish presently to think of u might properly be unique spouse. as a count of actuality dedication is basically a ethical promise to do basically u. this regularly creates an atmosphere of mistrust,by way of fact u could meet somebody u relatively like and might decide to do .yet by way of fact u have accepted posses ion via dedication, it is not obtainable .It is going the two techniques. Relationships have greater factors then merely dedication. What isn't clever is you dont care as long as hes commit ed to u and banging u! How chauvinistic

Not all men are afraid of commitment. I personally am 27 and waiting to meet "her". If I met "her" today, and things went the way I envision them, I would have no problem committing to her.

The thought of losing their freedom is too great. For some it kind of feels like death.
