I went for Lloyds, they have a 10% discount offer right now and they have always been the most reputable of the lot. Better safe than sorry.

I'm over 50 and keep getting letters from RIAS saying they are cheapest. However, they aren't (and neither are Saga who are VERY expensive, IMHO). I think best way is to use a comparison site like confused.com (last year I cut my car insurance from £48pm to £21pm - with a reputable company, the Post Office - and got a £50 cash back!)

There is no such things as the "best" place. You need to get a comparison quote so you can see the lowest prices as well as what they actually cover for what you pay. The following site has a great free comparison quote center. Good luck.

There's no harm in getting an online quote from Cornhill Direct - if it's cheap, take it. If it's not good enough, you can pass.

You can get the quote here:

I recommend lendingtree.com so that you can receive competitive quotes. Let the competition do the research for you to find the best deal, then you get to reap the rewards of their hard work!
