Hiya

Just stick to a low calorie, low carb, low fat diet, make sure you get your five a day and drink at least four litres of unflavoured water everyday. Remember when you are exercising that muscle weighs more than fat. SO as well as weighing yourself, take your measurements every four weeks and keep a record, when you are not losing weight you will be losing inches.
Take heart.... many people are in a similar situation, you can do this, all you need is a little support and motivation. I wish you all the best.

Be warned that the first few days you may feel a little lethargic and light headed or suffer from headaches, this is carb withdrawal and completely normal. The water consumption really helps as it hydrates the body properly, sometimes we think we are hungry when actually we are thirsty, try drinking first off when you have tummy rumbles, if half and hour after drinking some water your stomach is still complaining then eat something, if not then you were thirsty. The best healthy eating to engage in is the GI diet, very well balanced, inexpensive and easy food to prepare. But most of all, Good luck. :-)

You didn't mention how tall you are otherwise would have done your BMI. Obviously BMI is a very crude measurement as it only considers weight and height rather than what of you is lean body mass. This is why body builders always come up as obese on BMI when they are clearly not, but since you're concerned about your weigt I doubt that's the case with you.

You ignore everyone who wants to make you believe that Reductil or Hoodia works. Its a waste of money, ineffective at best, dangerous at worst. You can drink green tea til you're green in the face it'll make sod all difference! What makes a difference is this: Make the goal of your weight loss plan not just to lose weight per se, but to lose excess body fat. There are only two ways of shedding excessive body fat. One is by consuming fewer calories (i.e. eat less, or eat healthier). The other is by burning more calories (i.e. by being more active and exercising). Either way you have to generate a calorie deficit.

There are 3500 calories per pound of body fat. So if you have a calorie deficit of 500 calories you would lose approximately one pound per week: (500 x 7 = 3,500) A calorie deficit of 1000 calories would therefore mean that you'd lose approximately two pounds per week (1000 x 7 = 7000). Two pounds a week is commonly accepted as the maximum rate of weight loss that is healthy.

So if you want to lose 20 pounds that would be 10 weeks. So a 3 month target would be realistic. Initially you'll lose more and later it'll slow down, so its an average but definetely achievable.

So here's the drill:

A healthy diet contains lots of fruit and vegetables; is based on starchy foods such as wholegrain bread, brown pasta and brown rice; and is low in fat (especially saturated fat), salt and sugar. Cut out processed foods. No pizza, microwaveable meals, burgers etc.

Have 3 proper meals and two snacks (one mid morning, one afternoon). Chew properly. Never skip breakfast. Try not to eat after 7pm.

If you're exercising, maybe you're not exercising currectly??
Do a mix of aerobic and anaerobic cardiovascular exercises. Aerobic you do for 30 mins+ at a manageable speed where you should be able to talk without gasping. This builds endurance. Anearobic you do speed intervals where you go flat out and then have recovery breaks where you let your heartrate come back down and go again. That builds stamina. You can do this while running, cross trainer, rowing, cycling. Both aerobic and anaerobic cardio burns fat, just in different ways. You'll also develop you slow twitch as well as you fast twitch muscle fibres that way.

Also do weight bearing exercises, either resistance machines or free weights. Lean muscle mass is the best fat burner we have. Once you build muscle it wants to live and it'll increase your basal metabolic rate even when resting.

Get some whey protein to build muscle and avoid your body using your muscle as fuel instead of fat.

Good luck!!

Healthy foods are dead easy:

Fruit, vegetables, good quality protein, nuts and seeds, whole grains.

Cheap foods include vegetable soup (homemade), hoummos and a bag of carrot sticks or other raw veg, pitta sandwich stuffed with salad and bean sprouts (home sprouted - can't get any fresher or cheaper than that), a vegetable omlette. The list is potentially endless. Just give the packaged and processed food a rest along with the refined carbohydrates such as white bread, pasta, rice, sugar etc. And have a food sensitivity test - the food you are eating may be harming your health and making you fat.

What 'Placebo' said sounds like good advice and I especially liked the way she said that high intensity exercise also burns fat as so many people get drawn into the 'fat burning zone' myth.

One other thing, this isnt meant to sound harsh but you cannot be doing enough exercise or as stated before it cannot be the right type of exercise. If you expend enough calories, then your body will have no choice but to lose weight and the fact that you said you have gained weight only adds truth to this.

it depends on what u eat and how much of it.
try to change fat, sugary food to smth lighter, like
sugar to honey, candies - to fruits, eat fresh vegetable salad as often as u like, drink a lot of watter. eat slowly, enjoy Ur meal -diet specialist recommend to chew one bite AT LEAST 30times!. we eat so that we could live not we're living so we could eat.
try not to eat after 18.00. drink only water and fresh juices after that time. it will be hard at first, but by the time it will get easier, as everything we do in life!
and one more thing - alcohol has many many calories! keep away from it.

try that for a month or to, if that doesn't work - consult Ur doctor. he may find that Ur metabolism is not working well. he';ll tell u what to do.

Good luck and be patient - most of things do not change in one night!

Healthy foods are usually less expensive than the calorie laden ones, simply because they aren't pre packaged. Eat fresh foods that you cook yourself and don't fry things. cut back on salt, and drink juice and milk instead of soda pop. boiled, baked and poached is the way to go. and do yourself a favour, stay away from the fish and chips shops and other take out items.

regular eating habits are as important as healthy food , eat at set times 3 times a day , your body will learn when to expect food and stop storing fat against starvation (your body does this every time it is uncertain food is plentiful "we were once cavemen")
a smaller bowl and plate will help to deceive your mind into thinking you are eating a lot more than you actually are .
snacks don't help but you can eat as mush fruit and veg as you want without fear .
hope this helps good luck .

I would recommend weight watchers or similar as they will give you an idea of the best foods to eat - try not frying foods if you do and quorn is classed as a 'free food' in the weight watchers books - and it can be used in many recipes as well.
