The glass is a denser medium than air. Therefore, light travels at a slower speed in glass. Because of that difference, the glass reflects part of the light. There's a whole lot of info on this subject called "optics" in college physics.

Because of the principle I mentioned above, when light hits the glasses at an angle, it changes direction inside the glass. We've cleverly taken advantage of this principle to shape the glass into lenses that help you see clearly.
