This scritpure is talking about the earthly hope of everlasting life we have in Pardise soon to come. When Jehovah created humans, he purposed that the entire earth should become a paradise like the garden of Eden, populated by perfect, unified, happy people. (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15; Isaiah 45:18) That purpose has not been canceled by rebellious humans and wicked spirit creatures. Also, since Jehovah is a God of times and seasons, his purpose will be accomplished at the appointed time that he has set for it. He will not allow human rule independent of him to continue fighting against his purpose beyond the allotted time.

Jesus had complete confidence in Jehovah’s purpose for this earth. He said to an evildoer who showed some faith in him: “You will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43) That was the earthly Paradise to come. On an earlier occasion, Jesus had said: “Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5) Here, Jesus likely referred to the thought in Psalm 37:11, which says: “The meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”

Who are these who will inherit the earth? Psalm 37:34 states: “Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, and he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see it.” Verses 37 and 38 add: “Watch the blameless one and keep the upright one in sight, for the future of that man will be peaceful. But the transgressors themselves will certainly be annihilated together; the future of wicked people will indeed be cut off.” Thus people who will inherit the earth must come to know Jehovah, believe his promises, and be considered by him upright and blameless because they obey his laws. As First John 2:17 declares: “The world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever.”

**The meek shall inherit the Earth? what does this mean? **

It basically means that the meek are so humble and non confrontational they just go right ahead and do what they are told, without thinking of the consequences.
The meek and weak usually inherit nothing. They more than likely will have all that they have taken away. Usually with false promises of recompense or reward at a later date.

Have a pleasant day.

The nonsense known as "psalms" is in the old testicles - oops, testament. That means it's pre-jeebus, and thus jewish. Until the last 60 years, the jews have been the world's whipping goys - oops, boys.

Have you ever heard a little kid get the crap kicked out of him and then say through his tears, "I'll get you back!"? That's what the "meek shall inherit the earth" crap comes from. It was a feeble attempt ("poor thing, mommy will kiss it and make it better") to comfort somebody who got a bloody nose and couldn't fight back.

Peace!
It does not mean"softness". In the Bible, the truly meek are the considerate, the unassuming, the peaceable towards both God and man. They do not push their own plans to the detriment of God's saving plan. Jesus, the Wisdom of God, is the model of the meek man who gives rest to others (Matthew 11,29), the meek King who brings salvation through his own sufferings (Matthew 21,5), the Son who through meekness gains all authority (Matthew 28, 18).

Jesus Christ himself made this well-known and much-loved statement in his Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”—Matthew 5:5, King James Version.

Jesus’ words bring to mind what King David of ancient Israel was inspired to write centuries earlier: “The meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”—Psalm 37:11, King James Version.

“The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth”—How?

The fulfillment of that promise is closely linked to God’s purpose for people and for the earth. Jehovah God created the earth for a specific purpose. “This is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the true God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: ‘I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.’ ” (Isaiah 45:18.) Thus, the earth was created specifically for human habitation. Furthermore, it is God’s purpose for the earth to be an eternal home for people. “He has founded the earth upon its established places; it will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever.”—Psalm 104:5; 119:90. Furthermore, the Scriptures describe those blessed by Jehovah as dwelling in security, each sitting “under his vine and under his fig tree,” with “no one making them tremble.” (Micah 4:4; Ezekiel 34:28.) Those chosen by Jehovah “will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat their fruitage.” They will enjoy peace even with the beasts of the field.—Isaiah 11:6-9; 65:21, 25 - Faithful to his word, Jehovah God will make sure that the promised inheritance is not only available but also restored in all its splendor.

The transformation of the earth into a paradise will take place under a government that exercises its dominion from heaven, a Kingdom with Jesus Christ as King. (Matthew 6:9, 10.) First, that Kingdom will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” (Revelation 11:18; Daniel 2:44) Under that Kingdom, millions of humans, including those who will be brought back to life by means of the resurrection, will have the opportunity to inherit the earth.—John 5:28.
What does it mean to be mild-tempered, or meek? Dictionaries generally define “meek,” or “mild,” as gentle, moderate, submissive, quiet, even timid. However, the original Greek word used means much more. “ There is gentleness” in that word, observes William Barclay’s New Testament Wordbook, “but behind the gentleness there is the strength of steel.” It denotes a mental disposition that enables a person to endure injury without resentment or thought of retaliation, all as a result of having a good relationship with God, and that relationship becomes a source of strength for him.—Isaiah 12:2; Philippians 4:13.

One who is meek humbly accepts God’s standards in all aspects of his personal life; he does not insist on going by his own views or by other people’s opinions. He is also teachable, willing to be taught by Jehovah. The psalmist David wrote: “Jehovah will cause the meek ones to walk in his judicial decision, and he will teach the meek ones his way.”—Psalm 25:9; Proverbs 3:5, 6.
Will you be among “the meek” who will inherit the earth? We can look forward to inheriting an earthly paradise and living forever in it.—John 17:3.
