You gotta mix it up. Look, as a man I'll get off most of the time no matter what, so I try to figure what the woman likes and play around with it. You sort of know when to keep the speed up or when not to speed up when you get to know her in bed (she'll probably tell you anyway).
Sometimes it's real hard and quick and sometimes slow. You just sort of go with the flow, depending on the mood.
Remember guys, it's not about YOUR orgasm, it's about hers. Yours is easy, hers is hard. If you can give her one, she'll give you one no problem. If you can give her one, she'll WANT you to give her one more often.

I had a similar issue. I solved it by initiation intercourse slowly and every time he wanted to speed it up i could grab his butt and say softly no (with a grimy little smile on my face) that's my turn to teach you what i like sometimes. we now have wonderful intercourse simply by fact we enable one yet another be responsive to what we adore and how we like it. It won't harm his ego. If he needs to enhance the intercourse existence he will hear. If he's merely interested in his very own needs he wont. sturdy success!
