Is this a common thing? (by the way, she's SUPER cute!) :)
We have other friends who have Guatemalan kiddos, but they don't have the "look" she does. Thanks!

LOL..I CANNOT believe these answers! She IS adopted, but I'm wondering if she might have some other blood in her and not sure if that is common in Guatemalan children! Geesh! Just wasn't sure what other nationalities were common in Guatemala! Thank you to the ones who answered with intelligent answers---and to the rest---it just proves there are lots of idiots out there!

If you do some research on how humans came to this continent you will find there is strong evidence that they came overland from Asia when the continents were connected millions of years ago. If you look at the native American people in the north continent, the central America's and south America, you will see a continued commonality. I doubt if its anything to do with her immediate parentage, as much as the purity of the race she belongs to which is probably native to her country.

My adopted child is also from Guatemala and I, too, feel he must be part Asian. In fact, when I was invited to the home of a Filipino friend for a gathering of her entire family, my son blended in so well that no one identified him as Guatemalan. I have seen him with some of his other Asian (i.e., Chinese, Korean) friends; however, and he does not look like them at all. I learned in my research during the adoption process that there are many Koreans in Guatemala and originally thought he may be part Korean; however, I don't think so now. He does continue to have his almond-shaped eyes, which some thought would go away and his skin tone is more "yellow" undertones. Regardless of his origin ... He is simply beautiful.

I am Native American & White (along with some other ethnicities). I have both personal and professional experience with this. First of all it is Your Choice and eventually your daughters choice. Second, you can always choose other if you'd like. Having said that I recommend selecting Asian. There are a couple reasons for this. If you identify your daughter as Asian she will have more opportunities to participate in cultural clubs and activities. Also when she eventually applies for scholarships that'll be helpful. And in college there are Many benefits and resources for students of color. If your daughter wants to participate in cultural activities it could be embarrassing if you have selected White instead of Asian.

Depends if she shares anything with you. If she doesnt get a paternity test. Those can be done discretely while she sleeps by swabbing her inside cheek and sending it out with your sample to a lab.
Also, asians and indigenous tend to look alike, especially the central america variety. Remember the indians were a hodgepodge of Nomads all the way from France to Asia so they will look asiatic.
