HURRICANE KATRINA>>>WHY did you turn against your constitution and WE THE PEOPLE when you are not legally obligated to protect us . A national guardsmen made the comment, it was surreal and he couldn't believe it was happening in his own country. It was also extremely ILLEGAL by our constitution, and if it were my gun, I would not just being suing law enforcement down there, I would sue the national guard. (government) for violating my 2nd amendment rights.
Politics and government have replaced the patriotism in americans ?? and the constitution and we the people ???? Just want you to know what happened if you dont know, and question WHY it happened and also WHY are all our military being maimed, and more going in ? We dont have enough soldiers here to protect our borders, or the citizens now. THINK,,why would a president want that ?

I agree, the U.S. is becoming a police country, where citizens will be told what to do and when to do it. Bush and the government will soon blame taking all weapons away from the citizens of America so that the terrorists won't get them or something stupid like that, **** he is already eroding our rights to liberty and privacy.

If I remember correctly, it was the local officials that decided to confiscate weapons not the Federal Government. If the locals did shoot at the National Guard, the would have been authorized to return fire and that would have made the National news. The National Guard is under orders from the Governor.
Most of the problems related to Katrina can be directly related to "bad" decisions or indecisions by the Governor and Mayor before Federal help arrived. The Federal government made the mistake of assuming the local officials were up to the task of handling things and providing "timely" information prior to their arrival on the scene. I guess LA wasted their "Disaster Preparedness" funding too.

Fully automatic weapons are difficult to get. You need to get a license, pay a fee, pass a background check and get a signed letter from the police chief or sheriff. The weapons had to have been legal for civilian possession before 1986. Prices start at $6000 and go way up. The weapons you are referring to as assault weapons are semi automatic rifles that have a military appearance. They are mechanically identical to other guns with hunting style looks. The real difference is these rifles have been demonized based on the way they look. The gun grabbers do this so they do not have to come out say they want to confiscate all firearms, They tell us they just want to ban the bad ones. They just want to take the ones that are too scary looking or are Saturday Night Specials, guns that are two cheap or fill in the blank. One by one they ban the bad ones until they have stripped your gun rights away to the point that they might well all go. BTW I use an AR 15 to defend my home.

After almost 8 years of President Bush I think the majority of Americans see that this man has ruined this country, alienated us from our allies, caused more terrorism in the world and for what? Because he was raised a spoiled rotten little boy but he was still given everything his whimpering little self wanted. He wouldnt or couldnt take advice from anyone. He wanted a war and he got one and thousands of people have died because he cant let go off the power trip he is on and will be on for the rest of his life. He doesnt give a damn about the soldiers who died or the families of the soldiers who have died or the Iraqi people who have died because of him. Only history will reveal the true George Bush and I dont think its going to be good.

I agree that they shouldn't have taken the guns from people. The fact that rescue workers were being shot at by people, that they were trying to help, in no way excuses them. Sure, the people that were still there wouldn't have been able to get food, water, or medical care, but they would have still had their guns.
They should amend the U.S. Constitution to read "The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. We'll just leave you wet and hungry in your flooded home."

Lets see,it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this one out
1.People in New Orleans were shooting at the national guard trying to rescue people
2.The fine people in New Orleans, including a few police officers took it upon themselves to free shopping in other peoples homes and businesses..,isnt that called looting?
3.I would like to see the proof of your guns being taken away as this is the first I heard of it..,site please?
4.People werent smart enough to leave and blame the govt for their own stupidity
5.You are blaming the national guard for taking your gun away, there must have been a reason for it,are you a felon, were you using it,were you looting?
6.Dont blame the people trying to help you when the morons you people elect into office on the local and state level didnt take the neccesary actions to help the morons that were too stupid to leave.
P.S. The taxpayers appreicate putting the people of New Orleans in nice hotels, footing the bill for the debit cards that were spent on topless dancers and designer purses and all those trailers sitting there because your local govt cant get their heads out of their asses to put you people in them.WE THE TAX PAYERS THANK YOU FOR SCREWING US.
