I have no idea what it is, I have a vet apt for her on the 22nd. Should I try to get her in sooner and is she ok to be around? She is a 9 week old kitten that we got from the kennels.

I would get her in sooner. check the ingredients of her cat food and make sure you take that list to the vet. Some cat foods are corn based and i know my cat has an allergy to corn .Also look at the food bowl i would go with a glass one plastic ones seem to cause irritations on their chins. Also check for fleas. Good luck and hope your kitty gets better.

Yes, get her in Today, don't let the person answering the phone tell you to wait for this 22nd app. What you do is say that you have an emergency and you are on your way in, or you just show up! This is not the time to wait for an apointment. This sounds like a chemical burn. Was this possibile? Did Kitty get into fiberglass?? Mine did and his eye got all messed up, nothing to mess with. what you are saying sounds pretty bad and could get worse. Yes, safe to be around. Get kitty in now. Buy kitty shampoo from the vet's office, it is soap free, it is oatmeal based but it does suds up. But still, not knowing what it is, better get that baby i right now, I bet the kennell used a cleaning base and was not careful and this kitten had it on her, get her in today. Thanks for asking, hope you don't wait for an appointment, because this could effect more than what you see. God Bless!

Possibly ring worm but only your vet could tell you for sure. Just watch the kitten closely and keep it indoors until you find out what it is. You can teach her to use a litter box.

Watch for changes, if there aren't any just take her then. I am not a doctor so this is just a suggestion. Maybe if it looks really bad you should take her in sooner.

well it could be fleas, could be the start of ring worm, or she could just have an allergic reaction to something. I use to work for a vet
