From a Buddhist perspective, truth about life is all around us and only a good heart and a trained mind can see it. Buddhism is one of the only religions that I have seen that doesn't have a central holy book. The closest thing is the Tripitaka. But even that is seen as not being central. Buddhist feel that there is no need to have truth written down on paper. Its so real that writting it down is a reflection of "truth" and not actually "truth?" Why do other religions feel the need to have a central holy book. Are thier minds so unenlightened that they cannot see the universal truth with their own minds and hearts?

Secondly, the God's laws are written on our hearts, we KNOW, instinctively what is right and wrong, we simply choose to do otherwise. All of creation is a testament to the existence of God.
We need the Bible because it is His love letter to us, our instruction manual, and a historical record with a 100% accurate track record. We have Bible so that we may BETTER understand God's truth and His plan for our lives.

It is historically accurate, along with, it writings about Kings and civilizations are also correct, Its laws are beneficial, some are thousands of years ahead of their time in reasoning, Most of all its prophecy, has become accurate to the very naming of Kings, and dates. No other has done so. So the bible is unique.
Writing down and surviving throughout time, the bible is beneficial as reminders of how a person can get the most out of life. The examples and laws in the bible have been helping persons cope with problems in life. Because we are imperfect, the bible is a source of reference to recall things and reflect on what is important in life. Really it is more that a reflection of truth, it is solely truth because of who wrote it.

If you are asking why Christians have a bible it's because it is the Word of God. It is proof of what God wants from us and how he wants us to live. We don't live according to how the world wants us to live but how God intended for us to live and that can only be found in the Bible... which is the truth, the way, and the life.
