Boil some water, add some honey, lemon and a small amount of ginger OR garlic to taste. Leave to cool if you like or drink hot. Drink at least 5 times throughout the day and it should keep that cough at bay. Also drink LOADS (and i mean LOADS) of water- boiled is best.
All the "medicines" have in them that's different is paracetamol. The mixture will soothe and help heal your throat and cough. Paracetamol will just numb any pain. If you feel the need for it, i'd take it separate, as you are limited to the dosage of that but not the natural mixture.
When eating, also try to have lots or herbs and spices in them. I find a nice hot curry works a treat, if you can eat curry.
Hope someone tries this, it really works!

I once read in a mag. that cooled boiled water is better than any tickly cough medicine-worth a go, it's free! Let me know if it does work-I know how annoying those coughs can be.

A tsp of honey would help alot.
I had that cough last week...took different kinds of over the counter cough medicine, but the honey is what helped me the most.

A really good quick natural home remedy is a teaspoon full of lemon juice followed by a teaspoonful of honey. repeat as needed. drink plenty of hot tea, preferably herbal. Hope this helps to relieve your coughing symptoms.

you may desire to purchase a cough mixture in Boots referred to as pholcodene (?sp) - or purely ask on the drugstore counter for a cough mixture which includes codeine. This suppresses the cough reflex. the different cough mixtures are entirely ineffective and packed with sugar so the only element they are going to actual do is rot your enamel.

Take your chosen cough mixture with a drop of warm water. It will help it down - it really makes it more effective.

spice tea; a few crushed peppercorns, cloves, a sliver of ginger, some cinnamon; leave to infuse in tea 4-5 minutes...all ingredients to taste rather than a strict recipe
