Some people give all there power to a higher being.... they can't believe that we have the power to kill this planet and everything that lives on it. The might think that it is all Gods plan and, of course, Gods plan isn't Global warming. The don't understand that everything is based on cause and effect and God doesn't play a role in cause and effect. They are sure that God will save them... personally I wonder: Save them from what? From life and its consequences?

OMG but some Christians are so gullible. In response to the answer regarding Michael Chrichton's book State of Fear - IT IS A WORK OF FICTION!!! That means it is for entertaintment purposes only. He also wrote Jurassic Park for goodness sake! Do you also believe there is an island somewhere that is host to many differing dinosaur breeds? Geez!
Just keep burying your heads in the sand.
There's a saying - A lie is a lie, even if everyone believes it. The truth is the truth, even if no one believes it.
As for the temperature in America not going up by much. Apparently an increase of 2 degrees even over 20 years is detrimental to the eco balance of this planet. We should all be very concerned and doing whatever we can to reduce our own personal greenhouse emissions.
Thanks for asking this question. It's encouraging to read that there are some Christians out there who are answering and are obviously independent and free-thinkers! As for the others who don't believe in the greenhouse effect, is it any wonder that generally on this message board, Christians cop so much flack by all the "non-believers"?
I'm still blown-away by The Last Wife's response so I just had to add another thing ... You said that you are convinced that global warming is over-rated because of a work of fiction that you have read. Do you not think that as a Christian, you are perhaps a tad gullible? Seriously, I've never heard of a more ridiculuous attempt at supporting an argument ... I read it in a novel . lmao

There are three main reasons why some (SOME) Christians might think this. Neither one is particularly Biblical, but based on misinterpretations of scripture.
1. "I can do whatever I want with the earth, because God has made it for me to use." This view makes the assumption that humans are the only part of creation that God cares for. Those with this view don't care about global warming, as long as they get to do what they want with the earth, make a lot of money, and get to exercise their so-called "right to riches". This contradicts a lot of what the Bible says.
2. "God is going to destroy everything anyway, so who cares?" This is based on a wrong assumption that everything is going to be destroyed in end times. However, this contradicts the scriptures that say that the creation is waiting in eager expectation for the return of Christ. Why would the creation care if it's just going to be destroyed?
3. The most convincing evidence for global warming comes from evidence taken from rocks and glaciers, which go back 10's of thousands of years. However, some Christians think the earth is only 6000 years old. (By the way, the Bible does NOT say ANYTHING about how old the earth is. Not a peep.) This causes them to reject the most convincing evidence, because they believe this evidence cannot possibly exist. So, this issue is closer to the creation/evolution debate than you might think.
However, there are a lot of reasonable, thinking Christians out there who believe that it is absolutely critical that humans take care of the earth. This IS a biblical idea, and is directly linked to verses that say "take care of the land", and verses that include dire warnings about what will happen if we don't take care of it! In fact, there are a series of schools around the globe that are entirely about Christian environmental studies, and they do NOT deny global warming, but admit it and believe that it is critical that we do something about it. The leader of the Green Party of Canada is a Christian, too. So, there is hope. I think that the Christians who think that they can ignore God's commands to take care of the earth are in the minority.

Christians are to be sturdy stewards of God's advent. The earth is warming up now. even even though it exchange into hotter earlier. The Bible tells us that as quickly as God made the international He placed an ice guard over our ecosystem. this could have saved out risky solar gentle and it gave us approximately two times the oxygen and air rigidity that we've right this moment. there have been additionally little or no oceans, particularly land. The earth exchange into close to tropical from pole to pole. they have chanced on frozen plumb timber above the Arctic circle and (i think of it exchange into Admiral Perry) who chanced on frozen palm timber in Antarctica. on the time of the flood, the ice guard collapsed forming our polar ice caps. It exchange into additionally answerable for the information of the ice age. At -3 hundred F it iced over the plumb and palm timber. it is likewise the clarification Woolly Mammoths are frozen to the middle with none rotting. Any way, those ice caps have been melting considering than and it feels like they'll soften each of how down. The smaller they get the faster they'll soften. The earth will nonetheless have winters simply by fact the earth is now tipped on its axis (earlier the flood it could not have been tipped, or a minimum of not as plenty).

I absolutely believe that global warming exists and is getting worse. It is January, I live in New Hampshire and outside right now we have less than six inches of snow on the ground. One week ago, it got up to 68 degrees! Something is terribly wrong! But, I do believe that the world is NOT going to be destroyed by global warming. Jehovah God is going to step in, and fix this system of things, so that the earth once more can be a paradise, and we can live forever upon the earth. The Bible says: "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."—Psalm 37:29. And, "The wilderness and the waterless region will exult, and the desert plain will be joyful and blossom as the saffron. . . . For in the wilderness waters will have burst out, and torrents in the desert plain. And the heat-parched ground will have become as a reedy pool, and the thirsty ground as springs of water."—Isaiah 35:1, 6, 7. How can we live forever? If we truly want to live in God's new world, we must first learn God's will and then do it. For it is a fact: This "world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever," to enjoy eternally the blessings to be showered down by our loving Creator.—1 John 2:17. And to do that we need accurate knowledge, from none other than Jehovah God Himself. "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."—John 17:3. Look into the bible for yourself, and feel free to contact Jehovah's Witnesses.

Just another case where the evidence is ignored because the truth is too scary. Never mind the ice caps are breaking apart, glaciers are shrinking at a rate never before seen, ocean temperatures have risin , measurements that show industrial emissions are a significant part of the contaminants that cause this effect.

Well, from what I've discerned, many christians are admitting to global warming, but stating it is the "hot breath of God" being breathed over the earth in preparation for the end times.

I have seen evidence of that in New Zealand. As far as I can tell, caused by two intervening factors: an inherent distrust in scientific conclusions that are not fundamentally christian, and the fact most christians tend to be conservative, and invest their gains heavily in environmentally unfriendly industry. Cynical sure, but the best explanation I can think of.

There's no question that the planet is warming. The before and after photos of glaciers show it. The debate is about whether humans are causing it or if it natural variations in the climate.

i dont believe in global warming. Did you know man only atributes 2% of the pollutants. Surface and underwater volcanic activity contributes to a vast majority.
I Think its cyclical. Its been happening for billions of years. Refere to the global flooding that took place thousands of years ago. If you notice all these reports are from coastal locations and valleys with a low connection near oceans and rivers. But the whole world being flooded is just poposterouse.
yes the caps will melt. Hundreds of years from now is when it will actually be a threat.
