It happened to me too. 'Cept it wasn't dark, and I was driving someone else's car. His insurance paid up, and I learned to be more careful when parking.

Yes, you can still claim it. It is the moral thing to report the crash. Especially if there is structural damage to the pole. That is the property of another, if not public property. Your insurance claim will go up. The insurance investigator will be able to reconstruct the crash to confirm your claim.
Now, the logical thing is if there is no damage to the pole and only to your vehicle. Then you should leave, shut up, and pay to get your vehicle fixed yourself.

Of course you can. It's Comprehensive!but you will need to do your sums first.Unless you did some damage to the pole which has to be paid for as well, depending on who you are insured with, it may be cheaper to pay to get the car repaired yourself.ie. if your no-claims will be affected.More Than for instance give no claims protection for the life of the policy so if you are with them it won't cost apart from the excess. How much damage did you do for heaven's sake?

This is not a comprehensive claim. Comprehensive is things such as fire, theft, vandalism, etc. You ran into a pole- it is a collision. Therefore you will have an at fault loss under a collision claim.

yes of course but you will have to pay any excess and lose your no claims bonus.

So you need to do your sums carefully before claiming. It might be cheaper just getting it fixed without claiming. After all, YOU done it?
