Garlic pills are a good way to fight cholesterol. It's also a good way to fight off colds too. If that doesn't work, there are medications a doctor can prescribe.

There are a few foods on the market now which are made specifically to lower cholestrol - like Benecol dairy products, etc. However, one of the best cholestrol-reducing foods around is oatmeal - yep, good old-fashioned porridge, every morning, will do you the world of good.
Also, oily fish is very good for reducing the levels of lipids in your bloodstream - fish like sardines, mackerel, herring etc.

a high fiber diet will lower total cholesterol. consuming plenty of monounsaturated fats will help to create a good ratio of HDL:LDL cholesterol.
the ratio of HDL:LDL is more important than total cholesterol values
