I'm told that in about 5 years Vista will be replaced with Vienna.
And that the Keyboard and Mouse will not longer be needed. Any thoughts on this.

I've heard of a wireless keyboard and mouse that went dead because the owner forgot to put in new batteries, and so he was held up for a day, unable to check his email 360, or Messenger. That's about as far as I know about the modern computer.

My new Windows XP is amazingly small and fast compared to my old W/98. It's amazing.

Not 'needed' could possibly be true if voice recognition has had a huge leap forward in that time. It could be that you could not 'have' to use them.

Will keyboard and mouse still be the prime way of communicating with the PC. Absolutely!

Can you picture an office with everyone talking at once to their PC?
Do you want you parents / co-workers / customers to hear all your internet communication or would you rather have them hear the tap of keys.

Voice recognition is never going to be as useful as some think it could be and the chances of us making the breakthrough in the next few years is less than a 50/50 bet.

The system after Vista will have a keyboard and mouse (or other pointing device).

There are already voice-recognition programs to replace typing on keyboard. And the Opera browser has some voice controlled browser commands, such as "Opera back" which can replace clicking the back button.
