Let me quote 5-32-3
Translated by Yusuf Ali
Allah Says:

32. On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

33. The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;

34. Except for those who repent before they fall into your power: in that case, know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

35. O ye who believe! Do your duty to Allah, seek the means of approach unto Him, and strive with might and main in his cause: that ye may prosper.

36. As to those who reject Faith,- if they had everything on earth, and twice repeated, to give as ransom for the penalty of the Day of Judgment, it would never be accepted of them, theirs would be a grievous penalty.

So called critics of Islam, why don't you read Quran for a change?

Surah Tuaba Chapter 9 or quran verse 2
(Translated by Yousaf Ali)
Allah Says:

".....but know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah (by your falsehood) but that Allah will cover with shame those who reject Him. "
Verse 3
"And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith."

5:33: "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter."

When you wage a WAR against God or His prophet???? DUHHHHH!!!!! And strive in every way to hurt the followers of God???!! OF COURSE you should be punished then!! You have NOOOO right to hurt ANYONE!!!!
You can't be killed except during a war (IF you're an enemy participant in the war, no one else!!!)

It does NOT say that a Muslim can kill a non-Muslim. ONLY when you wage a WAR, ok? Not otherwise.

Peace and blessings be upon you!
And like it or not, "Islam" is an Arabic word that means "peace"; another of its meaning is "submission (to the Word of God)".

Because you're an "ex-Muslimah", everyone here can tell you're trying extremely hard to give Islam a bad image. Sorry; it ain't working so far, and it never will work :D!

i think religion should not talk abt violence or anything related to it. religion should show abt bring everyone together. islam clearly does not do this. But it is difficult for ppl muslims to come to terms with this since islam has been a major part in families for generations and for some 15 yr old kid to tell his parents i dont really agree with the quran could result in violence for that child, so it is easier just to go along with what the parents believe.

Peace and War are two sides of the same coin.
When you think of Peace, you're hiding War at the back of your mind.

Everything in this mystical world comes in pairs of opposites.

For example, Love and Hate

Princess, injustice and opression create violence. Simply. There is no one religion in the world order for killing. Its political issue rather than religious. People are suffering too much in the middle east because of what the west and especially US are doing there. Quran says, killing innocent person as if killing the whole humanity and saving innocent person as if you saved the humanity. Now media are portraying muslims as if they are terrorists, but they dont show details, they dont show who are the real people who are doing bombing. Actually, i doubt more than half of the bombing is planned by the CIA to help the american agenda their. Dont mix religion acts with political acts. Then, we muslims, we dont have real islamic country since the collapse of the Ottoman.

Islam is peace to the world and war to one's lower self. The reverse is wrong. The true Muslims like Rumi have won great admiration throughout the world.
Yes, let us all try to be true Buddhists, true Hindus, true Jews, true believers, true rational beings...to prove the maturity of our race in this age.

It's probably a misspelling from the translation.. I believe that Islam really means "piece." As in, "Disagree with me, appear to disagree with me, live in the West where most people seem to disagree with me, be American or Jewish, or just look at me wrong, and I'll either blow you to PIECES or cut you up into little PIECES."

You're wrong. You're either a shiite, a political bastard, or an extremist from another religion.

It does not state that in the Quran. Most "evil" statements that ARE in the Quran have supporting verses justifying use of the words similar to "kill".

We'll go recite some suras together.
