One of the first people to proposed the idea was Dr. Jack Kevorkian. He was shunned for his ideas while he was a doctor in the US Military. A study was done several years ago now, where they were trying to measure the weight of the human soul. You should try the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). You should try their site.

Yes but there is one problem. The measurement is flawed on the assumption that the soul is something seperate from the body.

The concept of a soul began in the bible. It is in Genesis. It clearly states that a soul = breath(life) + Body.

If you dont' have a body then you just have breath if you don't have breath you don't have a body. Both need to be in combination for there to be a soul. So the weight of your soul is how much you weigh on a set of scales. Unfortunately we all weigh something different so no soul weighs the same as another.

Yes.

In the early 1900s, Dr. Duncan MacDougall attempted to weigh patients just before and just after death to see if the body lost weight due to the departure of the soul. He concluded that the human soul weighs 21 grams.

Though his theories are not accepted by the scientific community, the weight of 21 grams has been quoted in mythology and superstition.

There have been no real big studies of the soul to my knowledge but there were reports that a certain amount of weight was lost after a person had died.

If the soul doesn't weigh anything, why does it need to be uplifted?
