I am thinking about buying some whey protien to gain some muscle. i just have a few questions.

I heard that you take protien if you are body building and really want to bulk up. i workout casually 5-6 days a week and run every second day. should i be taking protien?

how much protien should i get a day. i heard it is 1 gram per every kilo you weigh. is it?

i try to eat foods with lots of protien already. if i get 100% of my daily recomended intake of protien daily do need to take protien.

when will i start to notice results. i know im not going to get ripped overnight but if im working out 5-6 times a week when will i see results.

muscle is basically protein - so for muscle to grow is needs extra protein. if someone sits on a couch and eats extra protein, nothing will happen. So the amount you bulk up will depend on how much you make your muscles work.
If you want to keep a leaner muscle figure use a protein powder every 2nd day as a snack, if you want to start bulking up and getting more defined muscles use it 1-2 x day as a snack.
For dosage, yes 1g/kg is about right in total.
Results could be seen at the 4-6 week mark. To speed the process up, look at adding creatine.

when it comes to increasing muscle mass. increasing the protein intake is only part of the equation. you also have to increase your carbohydrate and fat intake.

you only need about 1-1.5 grams of protein per lb of lean body mass, not total body weight.

so if you weigh 180 lbs with average body fat of 15%:

180 - 20% = 144

so you have 144 lbs of non-fat on you.

144 x 1 = 144
144x1.5 = 216

so you want to ingest between 144-216 grams of protein a day. divide that by 5 meals 28-43 grams of protein per meal and eat double the protein in carbohydrates. that's 56-86 grams of carbs per meal. and try to get in at least 20 grams of fat per meal.

Body will extract its requirements from all kinds of food, carbohydrares or proteins, and one does not have to increase the intake of proteins. The excess consumption of proteins in fact put a severe strain on ur liver and kidneys.
