Do you mean that there's a number listed on your prescription by "Cylinder"? If you do, this means that you have some astigmatism in your left eye, which means that the lens of your left eye is shaped in a way that causes you to see horizontal or vertical planes in a warped way. When you have lenses made with your prescription, they are shaped in a way that will correct this problem.
It is very common to have astigmatism, and the degree of it can fluctuate as time passes. Many people have it at one point and have none at their next check-up. For more severe astigmatism, the values are likely to change as you age, but it is not likely to completely go away.
The only way to 'cure' astigmatism is through Lasik eye surgery, but if your cylinder value is not very high (less than -1.50 or so), it's worth waiting to see if it eventually corrects itself.
