We like each other, hes just come out of a 6yr relationship.Ive known him for almost 2yrs but only started havin feelings for him about 10months ago whilst he was still with her. Now they have split up he says he does enjoy my company,he fancies me&he likes me alot but hes tried distance relationships&they dont work. He says we are both selfish&we would never have time for each other. We speak every day. However after he tells me this he asks me if i want to come to Leeds with him&his friends in a months time but I said I would have to let him know as its my mums50th.I thought he was just asking from a friend perspective after what he had just said.He then said "you see it would never work you have your friends and family&the same with me, we would never have time to do anything else".Then at the weekend he texts me&expects me to drop everything and come to London to meet for a drink.im quite happy to drop plans but only if he says hes willing for us to give it a try.Im totally confused?

Forget him, he's only after the sex when it suits him. If he was wanting a proper relationship he would want to come see you rather then expecting you to drop everything to go see him all the time.

Dear o dear. I've been in almost the same dilemma. We liked each other flirted with each other and made out with each other. I completely lost my heart to him. After 4 months of on and off discussing how it would influence our friendship and whether it could work, I never lost hope until last week. What he said that evening broke my heart more than anything else. One sentence: We are too much alike. His words was so straight and cold and for the first time I could read in his eyes that he will not go for this relationship. Afterwards backtracking to all the things that he said to me I realised I shoud've seen this sooner. Watch out before you get hurt. When and if he is ever interested he will put it out there. 6 years is a long time! Give him space. Maybe you 2 are like us, just too close too good friends and too much the same. The 1 big mistake that I made was to be too interested in him. If he liked a band I didn't even know I would look them up and listen to it so next time I know what he is talking about. I did that with music, movies, places he has been to. I thought It would make us get to know each other better, now it seems knowing the same things, people adding to the things we loved together is what drove us apart. Gd luck. Let him do the walking and talking.

Don't get your hopes up. Doesn't mean that he texts you on weekends to join him for a drink that he wants to have a relationship with you. If he wanted to he would have said so a long time ago. The excuses that you mention are soooo cliche', I'm surprized you have not noticed that. From the content of your letter, I personally gather that he is not interested in more than friends, even he says he does like you... he's trying not to hurt your feelings. Stop pushing so hard and just accept his friendship. you may even lose that if you continue to hound him - and try to stop dropping everything and running everytime he blows the whistle - it looks really desperate. If you already have other plans - stick to them. Good Luck and try moving on a bit.

i would say at the mo he has to many mixed emotions and a relationship would not work long distance or not men go into the using mode after they split from a girl if he excepts u as a partner be care full that is not for the wrong reasons as for it being ur mums 50th birthday stay at home and celebrate with her as it is an important time of her life also she has been there for you when you needed her.

i dont think he wants anything more than friendship hunni, your pushing him too hard and hes trying to let you down gently but he also knows that your silly enough to drop everything to see him when he has nothing else on!
take a step back, text him and speak to him when HE calls YOU but dont drop everythng to go running, if you stop obsessing over this guy you'll have more chance of finding someone local!
good luck and i hope you find someone!
xx
