She is just 4 months old and was recently desexed and had her final vacinations. She was off colour and vomiting for a week after the operation and i was in constant contact with the vet over her condition, towards the end of the week she only ate very little amounts. on Saturday she was operated on and it was discovered she had not one but two telescopic bowel obstructions. She has spent just over 48 hours on IV and been cared for by the vet, the only time she ate after the op was when given drugs to stimulate the appetite and threw up after. the vet is leaning towards euthanasia for her as her wound is still weeping and she will not eat and therefore not able to pass. We cannot say for sure that she has a blockage and may just take a few days and encouragement to get better, the vet advised that she is not in pain but soon enough a desicion needs to be made. Does anyone have any idea about a condition like this or knowledge of what we can do or try ?

Thanks everyone for you help and kindness. It is now 4 days since the operation and yesterday she ate a small amount of food and did a poo ! Never thought id be so happy to hear that. She is not out of the woods yet but has made a small step so we are keeping our fingers crossed that she will continue to improve.

I would get a second or even a third oppinion. What happened sounds like in part your vets fault.

Dear Jess***

She was spayed at 4 MONTHS??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In South Africa, the females are normally spayed at 6mnths old, minimum age 5 mnths, but not less than that. Yes I do admit females are more intricate than their male counterparts, but the conditions your kitten had is NOT and I repeat NOT how it should be. Your kitten was spayed at a very early age and what happened to her after the op. is plainly unsanitary conditions. Please, and I urge you, take kitty to another vet for their opinion as soon as you possibly can.
When you have heard the results, and you have grounds and facts to sue the other vet, DO IT!!!!!!. He wants you to euthanase her, TO GET RID OF THE EVIDENCE.
The obstruction in the bowel, was most probably the swabs etc. during surgery (left behind), and your poor kitty was in pain from septicemia.
He (your vet) was negligent and needs to be punished, as he has committed a crime.
GO TO ANOTHER VET NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
