To calculate the current draw of an amplifier, multiply the number of channels by the RMS watts per channel (a 2 channel amp rated at 500 watts RMS per channel would be 1000 watts). Double it to account for amplifier inefficiency (1000 watts X 2 = 2000 watts), then divide by the average output voltage of an alternator, 13.8 volts (2000 divided by 13.8 = 145 amps). Since the average music signal requires about 1/3rd of the average power in a test tone, divide by 3 (145 amps divided by 3 = 48 amps).
This is an average approximation of current draw and it can go higher. So I would gather between *48 and 72 amperes for this example.
The alternator of a:
compact car is about 35 amps
mid-sized car is about 65-75 amps
SUV is about 145 amps
Calculate 40% of the amperes of the alternator you have now. This is the average current the car uses when running. Add this number to the approximate average current draw (*48) of the amps you calculate, and you will come up with the mimimum average current required to power the audio system and vehicle.
If the number you come up with is the same as what your alternator supplies, you need to take no action.

It's kinda hard for you to know who to listen to on here.
I aint gonna say any names, but some of the people that responded to this post don't seem to know what they're talking about (mercury)
Anyways, a caprice or a tahoe would be fine (heavy chevy ridin')
There's really no need to to get two amps unless you're using one for your mids (which I'd suggest since you're going with solo x's)
Also, that capacitor would be great. With a capacitor like that, you wouldn't need a second battery at all.
Whether or not the vented box is good depends on 2 things:
1) if it's made correctly
2) if that's the sound you prefer
A vented box would sound better (in my opinion) in a tahoe than it would in a caprice.
As far as the alternator, if you can afford it, I'd say go for it
As far as the amp kit you get, it depends on what all you plan on installing. Basically, you'd need:
Power wire
Ground wire
RCA cables
Remote turn on wire
Fuse and fuse holder
Speaker wire
and terminals for all the wire.
If you're installing two amps then you'd need a distribution block
One last thing, if you're going for really deep bass, then I'd suggest going for either 12's or 15's rather than 10's, but if you have the box already, I'd say go for the 10's. It would be pretty simple to swap them out later on, because all the wiring could stay the same

well you do not want a 200v alternator you will fry your electronics, just get 2 subs and a 1600-2000w amp, 2 gage wire is fine. boxes are not vented their ported. have best buy install the system they will give you a warranty and make sure you have the right capacitor too. when it comes to electronics their is a delicate balance you cannot just through stuff in there you have to make sure the system can handle the load. Try researching some information next time

first off why waist your money on a pair of solo x's? and if you want spl then why are you going with 10s? waist of money. if you really really want to be the loudest then you have to get the loudest. not the most overated. here is the loudest
