WHY DO PARENTS, CO WORKERS, FAMILY ECT...THERE IS LESS COMMNCTION, MORE FATHERS, TONS OF DRUGS, TWO WORKING PARENTS, PRESURE TO BE ALL YOU CAN BE, LOOK PERFECT AND HAVE A FAMILY B4 YOU GET OLD AND YOUR MARRIAGE HAS ABOUT A 50 PERCENT CHANCE IF DIVORCE LIKE MOST OF YOUR FRIENDS PARENTS . AND WORK YOUR BUTT OFF IN SCHOOL IN HOPES OF A SCHL.SHIP BECAUSE IT COST MORE THEN YOUR PARENTS HOUSE ON THE BEACH.
ALL YOU CAN DO THROUGH IT ALL IS BE STRONG, LET THEM FEEL YOUR LOVE AND THE SECURITY THAT EVERYTHING WILL WORK.

1) You were most likely unhappy at times as well when you were a child. Comes with the hormones.

2) Our workload today is immensely greater than the previous generations. I am constantly being told by adults how easy it was to get into college, how they never had to take a math class beyond Algebra 2 (I will go on to second year calculus by the end of high school), how we are required to do so many extra curriculars outside of school, how work and responsibility seems to be crammed on us while all the adults in our lives say we shouldn't have said work and responsibility. Stress factor! Hooray! *dies from stress*

3) Overprotective parents. Every disease is out to get us now. We are vaccinated for measles, mumps, and rubella (sp?) before we are allowed into the public school system. Parents don't let their kids go places because it might be germy. When, say, the baby boomers were kids, they could go play in the streets and not have to worry about some axe murdering pedophilic rapist coming after them.

These are the only ones I can think of right now.

When children r given everything they want by the parents, what is left to make them happy ? Starting at an early age, kids r given every new toy and gadget, bicycles, mini quads, etc, so by the time they reach 16, they expect bigger toys, like cars and motorcycles and bigger allowances, designer jeans ($100) and $100 sneakers. If parents can`t afford all this luxury, u have a unhappy, spoiled child, who must turn to drugs to reach a new form of high. This in only my opinion. Too much too soon.

I think it may have something to do with our consumer oriented society (In America at least) Many parents do not have a lot of time away from work, so they buy buy buy to make up for time they are not with their children. This, in turn, can cause kids to want more things on the surface while they are craving the attentions of Mom and Dad underneath. I think that lack of time plays a huge part in the problem.

children are discontented because they dont have imaginations instead of going outside and making up games to play they are inside palying video games or online chatting with strangers instead of going out and meeting real people and being active or reading a good book and imagening themselves as the main character or places they can go things they can do they wait for it to come out in the movies.

i believe (in general), it's because they are pushed to the back of our lives. parents these days are so content on getting that bigger house and bigger pay cheque, that their time available to give to their kids is minimised.
as a result, kids are feeling less important, ignored and hence, unhappy within themselves.
time is the most important thing we can give our children when it comes to their self esteem and future happiness.

Turn the tables and ask the question other way round!Got my point. When needs are not fulfilled and expactations are more due to awareness.Gaps are large between people.Everything leads to discontentment.
