In Islam, we believe that we all are self-accountable for all of our sins.
Nothing will help us on the Day of Judgement except our Good Deeds. Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him) will not save us too nor will Jesus Christ (PBUH).
Therefore, Almighty GOD will analyse our deeds into 2.
The Duty towards GOD.
This includes NOT to associate any partners with HIM. Worshipping Almighty GOD as he ordered us. NOT to make any Image of HIM. Establishing regular prayers, fasting etc...
If a person had never done 'Shirk' - Associating any partners with Almighty GOD, May be his other duties towards GOD be forgiven provided he has NO duties left towards GOD's creations.
The Duties towards HIS creation.
These cant be forgiven. The duties of the parents, neighbours, friends, relatives, common man and even the smallest creation of GOD.
With regards to Creation, if a muslim tortured an animal, this is a sin and he will be punished for that.
For a person to get the minimum passing marks and enter Heaven.
1.) He/she must worship ONLY ONE GOD. And NOT associate any partners with HIM. Almighty GOD has NO image.
2.) Perform the duties of all the Creations as mentioned above.

According to the Scriptures, those who are of the elect, the called out ones, are destined for Heaven. God chooses out individuals for salvation through His grace and mercy, not because of our works or who we are here, but by His divine grace and love. Jesus Himself promised that those who believe would live eternally with Him in Heaven. Either a person dies justified by the work on the cross, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, or they die in their sins and will face judgment for their works. There is no other way.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

It all depends, and muslims don't think that ONLY good muslims will go to heaven/paradise. We believe that if you were a good person in life and believed in one God, you go to heaven. If you die saving the life of another person, automatic heaven. If you die for your beliefs like that girl in the Columbine shooting did, you go to heaven. Pregnant women, women in labor, and nursing mothers go to heaven.

there is only 2 place:-
Heaven - For muslims who have weighted by Allah and who have more good deeds then bad deeds weighted, will go to heaven.
Hell - For Muslims and Non-muslims who have been weighted by Allah and have more bad deeds than good deeds will go to hell. For muslims who have been in hell and their sins have been cleanse, will go to heaven after that.
At the end, all muslims will go to heaven but the non- believer will remain in hell forever.

When someone dies he doesn't exist anymore. His body will decompose. About the soul the bible writes:
(Ezekiel 18:4) “4 Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.”

In the Holy Qur’àn, interesting and varied interpretations have been made, regarding death, the study of all the aspects of which, shall become very elaborate, hence we suffice by mentioning a few of the beautiful and expressive interpretations, which have appeared in some of the verses.
1. Meeting with God (Allàh)
The Holy Qur’àn, in the last verse of the Surah Kahf, has expressed death as a meeting with Allàh and says:
)فَمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُوا لِقَاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَلاَ يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا(
“So whoever desires to meet his Lord, he should do good deeds and not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord.”
2. Return to God (Allah)
Another interpretation which the Holy Qur’àn has and which makes clear the reality of death, is “return to Allàh”. However, the Islamic philosophers, regarding the manner of the creation of the entities (and amongst them, man) by Allàh and after then, their return towards Allàh, have subtle, profound and interesting theories. The Holy Qur’àn says:
)إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ (
“Verily, we are Allàh's and verily to Him shall we return.”
3. Seizing of the Soul
One of the beautiful interpretations of the Holy Qur’àn in the matter of death is(توفّى). This word means seizing a thing in its entirety. Hence, according to the verse under consideration, the reality of death is that the angels commissioned to take the soul, seize the entire personality of man at the time of death, and remove it from the captivity of the body. They, then carry it to the Divine Presence:
)قُلْ يَتَوَفَّاكُمْ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ الَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ(
“Say: the Angel of Death who is given charge of you shall cause you to die, then to your Lord you shall be brought back.”
'Death' - according to the Traditions
The traditions also contain beautiful, subtle, instructive and interesting interpretations regarding death, some which are mentioned.
1. The bridge of crossing
In some of the traditions, death has been referred to as a bridge, over which people, at the time of transfer from this world to the other world, shall cross and reach their goal, which is the other world. For example, Imàm Husaىn (’a) on the day of ‘Ashurà, speaking to his loyal companions said:
صبراً بنى الكرام فما الموت الاقنطرة تعبُربكم عن البؤس و الضرَاء الى الجنان الواسعه
“Remain firm, O sons of noble people, because death is just a bridge which will cross you and transfer you from discomforts and troubles, into the extensive gardens of paradise. So which of you does not desire his freedom from prison and entering into a castle. Of course, death for your enemies is like their being transferred from a palace and a castle into prison and torture.”60
2. Removal of clothes
In some of the traditions, death has been compared to clothes, which of course differs, with respect to a believer and an unbeliever. Death, for a believer is like dirty clothes, which he removes and frees himself from its dirtiness and unpleasant odor, whereas, death with respect to an unbeliever is also like clothes, but beautiful, costly and pleasant-smelling, which he must remove from his body at the time of transfer to the other world.
3. Sleep
In some other traditions, death has been compared to sleep, in which the soul goes out of the body. The only fundamental difference between sleep and death is that the coming out of the soul from the body, at the time of sleep, is only for a short period of time. In addition, the connection between the body and the soul is not completely severed. On the other hand, researches pertaining to the soul has proved shown that the soul maintains a connection with the body in a very special manner. While, at the time of death and after that, the severance of this connection is more complete than that during sleep, although, after death too, a weak connection does exist for a certain period.
Another point is that the coming out of the soul at the time of death continues up to the Universal Resurrection. This tradition says:
“Imam Muhammad Baqir (a’) was questioned as to what is death? The Imam (‘a) replied “ Death is the very same sleep that comes to you every night. However this is a sleep, which is very long, and man shall not wake up from it until the Day of Judgement. Thus one who sees different types of pleasure and happiness in his sleep over which he, (in his wakefulness) has no power and similarly he sees the different types of fear-instilling things, while he has no power over them. Thus, how is the state of happiness and fear in the sleep? (The affairs shall be similarly so in the state of death too). This is death. So be ready and prepared for it.”

Faith is critical. But believing the right faith is more important. Not all faith would take you to heaven. Nobody can govern you for the right faith. Its the once in a life time decision which should be made in faith that would take us to heaven.
