When I started dating my girlfriend I was convinced she was dating me because of my money and I told a friend of mine about it. I dated her anyway and have now found out that this is not the case. Also she has turned out to be such a great person and we love each other so much. However, my friend told her that I used to say she was after my money. She became very upset and hurt and confronted me about it. I told her it was a lie but I feel guilty. I fear telling her will break us, but I also feel guilty lying that I didn't say it. Should I tell her I said it but I've found that I was wrong or should I stick with my story that I never said such a thing

The mistake you made was not so bad that it is unforgiveable. Be honest and explain, tell her you were dumb and stupid. If she cant forgive you then shes not as great as you think she is because this is something you both should be able to overcome if your apology is sincere. Dont wait to be honest itll get worse.

I think u ought to tell her th truth...but make sure it is at the right time and situation. Best thing is to tell her at a place she cant walk out of you. Be very sincere. Maybe u can tell her that you had some bad experiences where the other girls were really into you $$ instead of you. Tell her how wrong u were to be judging you at such an early stage of the relationship and deserve to be punished by her but not to the extend of having her to leave you and the reason why u lied bout not saying was because you're so in love with her and you too afraid to lose her.
Im sure she'll understand that. Though she might still be hurt...it takes time....to heal. So make just make sure...she knows how sorry u really feel.
You'll be at a better state of mind once u get this guilt off your shoulder.

Don't tell her. some things are better left as lil white lies such as this ...I'm not saying to always lie to her but spare her feelings on this . You shouldn't have said that about her and kept dating her but you did . You might can tell her later down the road but spare her feelings for now

Women want the truth and nothing but the truth.If she fines out you lied to her then she might brake up with you.If the two of you run into your friend what do you think she will do.She will do what any girl would do and that is to ask your friend why he lied on you.Then you will have to tell the truth. Before it gets to that just tell her you were embarrassed that she fought out what you said and that was said before you got to no her as a person.No way will she get mad at you when you tell her you never wanted to lie to her and it's been killing you and you are very sorry for doing that and it will never happen again.

Not much of a friend, telling her that - but anyways, I think you should fess up and admit the truth. It will make you feel better, and it will stop the risk of the real truth being exposed. She will probably get angry at you, but if you both love each other, she will forgive you. This would not be a thing to break up about, if she were me.

Since the whole thing seems to be taking a toll on your conscience, I'd say spill it to her and take whatever shots she gives you. I don't think this is a relationship-breaker, especially since you guys have already got something built (at least, that's what it sounds like).
My only advice is to emphasize that you told your friend that a long time ago, and whatever worries you had then, you're long over them now.
Okay, I lied. Second piece of advice. Don't spill any more stuff to your friend.

sounds like this is on ur consiense, i think you should come clean because its worse to live a lie. try and say it in the best way possible, dont just slam her with it, just explain that u cant lie to her and even that little lie made you feel bad, say the things uve said on here about ur love for her, maybe buy her a gift and explain you used to thinhk that but when you got to know her that was not so and that ur sorry for saying that to ur frend. also explain that u lied because u value the relationship so much and dont want it to end :) hope that helped

Come out with all honesty! U have to admit the truth one day, and i would say do it earlier. Tell your gf your perception about her changed over time and now that part is not true any longer and what's true is your love for her. Gd luck!
