I would definetly say you are depressed, I can't think of any other thing that could explain your symptoms. I can relate with you talking about how you mother thinks you are ok because you told her you stopped, that reall sucks when parents don't realize what's going on. Now, you explained how you don't want to tell your mother again and what she did, but I really think you need to, because if you are going to get better (with the depression and the cutting) you are going to need support, and possibly therapy and medication which you can't get on your own. But, there are ways that you can successfully tell your mother without her being as likely to be mad. One that can really help, is to wright a letter to your mother, explaining how you feel, about why you cut and why you hurt, things like that. You can then use this letter to present it to her right before you go to school or something, so that she can read it and you both can have some time to cool down and think about what's going on. If you explain everything out in the letter it will allow you to get all your points out without being interrupted as you might if you told her in person, and it allows you to collect your thoughts before you explain to her, so you don't forget anything. You can also use this letter as a guidline, and instead tell her in person what's going on while referring to the letter so that you don't forget anything. If you do decide to wright a letter don't blame her, you may believe she is the cause of your misery, and not saying that she might be, but if you blame her she could very easily just go on the defense and not be willing to take in anything you say. I really think though that you should find a way to tell her, you could go back to the counsellor and tell you want to tell your mother, and she could like prep you and act as a mediator when you tell your mother. She is trained for this sort of thing and will be able to help I bet. I really think you should get some therapy and maybe medication, that can really help you get out of this. also, if you are trying to stop cutting but are having a hard time, you should check out recoveryourlife.com, they are a site that has a chat room and a message board and it's members are cutters trying to stop, cutters who have stopped and are there to keep from going back or to help others. It is a really good site, it has lots of facts and info about cutting, ways to tell loved ones, info for loved ones of cutters, it's really good overall. I would very much suggest that you check this site out. I have to go now, if you want to talk you can email me if you want, I know where you are coming from (I'm personally depressed and self harm) and I'm willing to listen if you just want to vent or whatever. Whatever you do, good luck, I hope things get better for you. See you

Yes, you are probably depressed. Ask your mom to help you get a physical, because you may have a problem like low thryoid. Confess everything to the doctor, who will know anyway from the cuts. You need to get help! Your mom will probably have to know, don't worry about disappointing her, she'd rather know the truth than be kept in the dark. If you really can't tell her, you can probably get some counseling through school or over the phone. Whatever you do, just get help!

I don't know how old you are, but the odds are good that it is depression. The problem you now face is that the treatment options are either medication, therapy, or both. If you are a minor which it sounds like you are, the only way you will get the medication you need is if your parents take you to a doctor to get it prescribed.

Please don't worry about what your mother will think, she loves you and would rather see you healthy than not healthy. You need treatment.

One of the first things to do is admit the problem. Also take a look at http://www.healthadel.com/articles/9/1/Depression-Treatments/Page1.html there is some very good advice and info plus treatments.

Start by saying, "Mum I started cutting again, I'm really feeling depressed and scared. I need your help. I don't know what to do."

it sounds like it, yes.
perhaps a school counsellor or teacher can help you talk to your mum. i highly doubt your mum really thinks you're fine - i bet she knows something is up, just not what. give her a chance to help you. but you need to tell the truth about how/what you are feeling.
