I recently went to a Christian bookstore to purchase a few of my favorite Biblical movies and cds. I immediately noticed posters and advertisements for the movie "Thr3e", and overheard others discussing how they couldn't wait for the movie to come out. One was a Pastor. I've also seen this movie advertised on various Christian websites.
Tonight I became curious, and decided to watch the trailer, certain it would be Christian friendly. Unless I'm missing something, the previews aren't any different than other non-christian Thrillers I've seen advertised. I'm very disappointed that Christians would support this, but I also realize this is part of the deception we have been told would begin to enter Christian circles. What are your thoughts?

The fact that Ted Dekker is a Christian writer is irrelevant. This movie does not have a "dominant" Christian theme. There are many Christians who have labels behind their names of pastor, biblical teacher, ect who have strayed away from God's Word. Christians should discern what they see and read, not judge how appropriate something is based on their opinion of the writer or director.

Can anyone recommend movies that are more Christian friendly? Lately I've resorted to watching re-runs of older Biblical movies, and rarely watch televison. However, every now and then, it would be nice to see a newer clean Christian movie.

"When a young seminary student is targeted by a psychopathic killer, he joins forces with a criminal psychologist whose brother was murdered by the same madman. Together, they must unravel the killer's riddles and catch him before he strikes again, but the close they get, the more twisted the path becomes. "
Heralded as a "faith-based thriller," "Christian horror movie," or any other number of vague monikers that indicate some religious content mixed with your usual horror fare.
OK, fair enough, so what do we have here? Well, Thr3e is a kind of riff on your Saw movies and Seven, giving us an unseen psychopath who's stalking our hapless hero Kevin (Marc Blucas), who wants nothing more than to complete his thesis and get out of seminary school. Problem is, he's got something iffy in his past, and the psycho stalker is trying to force Kevin to "confess" his sins... mainly by killing off Kevin's friends and spraying graffiti on his car before blowing it up. Each time he's in touch, he delivers a mysterious set of instructions and a limited time in which to complete them, or else something explodes.

Look, You read way to much into the whole thing here. The pastor you are referring to most likely read the book and enjoyed it, therefore he would like to see the movie. The book happens to be written by a christian author...but it is entertainment, not the word of God. I watch and read christian and non-christian work, and enjoy them both. This does not make me more or less of a christian. As long as my relationship with God/Jesus doesn't suffer, then i don't think it matters. As long as you are not putting ANY TYPE of entertainment before God, and as long as the entertainment is not a sin, it really should not be an issue weather or not its so called non-christian or christian.
Also I would like to ask is there some law in the minds of "chirstians" that states that someone who claimes to be a christian MUST write a christian themed story/song/movie??
and the same goes for the opposite Is there a law that states that "non-christians" can ONLY write about "non-christian" ideas??

Don't know yet lemme go research it...
Okay so the movie Thr3e is based on a book written by Ted Dekker, who is a very famous Christian fiction author.
I didn't watch the trailer but it's rated PG-13 and I know Ted Dekker he will find a way to work the gospel message into his story.
So no, it doesn't surprise me.

Any store can go out of business due to lack of sales. It would be great to think that God would always provide the store with enough money/resources to remain open but since there are many ways to find the word of God, I doubt that it always works that way. That's like suggesting that all Christians never lose their jobs. What you could do is seek donations from churches if you ever have trouble making payments. But being a Christian does not guarantee you job security.

Just because one of the main characters is a seminarian, it's become a Christian film? The reviews are horrible.

I read the book and thought the same thing.
Didn't see any marked difference that makes this "Christian" entertainment.

Are you a follower of Christ or follower of men?
Why bother what these shops are doing? They will give an account to God on what they're doing. Whether it be burning for eternity / eternally damned.
