Only paddling enough to keep headed downstream, my wife and I made a 4 1/2 mile trip (East Fork of White River in Indiana) in two hours in our kayaks. If we would have had our paddles in the water the whole time, I would say 4 to 5 mph would be about right. Double that if you are really digging deep and pulling hard. Next time we are doubling the mileage and taking a lunch. Happy yakking!

Unless facing into the wind we just paddle and glide, paddle and glide,the others are right on aprox 5 k\s.
