A student visa is a non-immigrant visa (F-1). Due to the fact that you are not a legal resident alien you can not purchase a gun in the United States. As long as you remain in status you are legally present but not a resident. Only Legal Alien Permanent Residents (LAPR) and U.S. Citizens may purchase a firearm.
If you buy a gun you can be arrested for a felony, imprisoned and then deported. I would suggest finding another way.

I am not sure whether or not you can carry a gun if you are a foreigner. If so, than as long as you are not a felon, or mentally disabled you can probably get a concealed weapons permit. you would have to take a short class, and pay a small fee. There will be a wait time when you go to purchase the gun, while the dealer checks your record. Unless you buy from a private party. do not get caught carrying a weapon without the concealed permit. The penalty's are huge. Also know that with a permit, whenever the police run your name they will automatically know that you probably have a gun and they will treat you like you do. So be prepared. The cops will be freaked at the very sight of you. A nervous cop may shoot you.

Let me answer the question with a question. In your country, can a non-resident alien get a gun legally? The Second amendment only applies to Citizens of this country. How would you feel if everyone in your "College Neighborhood" went out and got a gun. Have you ever seen the movie " Gunfight at OK Corral". Contact your Student Organization(s) and ask them to petition for more Police Protection in the area. Keep your mind on your education, get your degree and go back to your country and do some good.

Good answers above to which I'll add:
If you are caught carrying a firearm on a college campus you'll be arrested on multiple felonies. Instead of doing time in class, you'll be doing time at the Graybar Hotel, and then deported without ever being able to return to the USA. Travel in a group, be aware of your surroundings, and use common sense. A gun would be your worst choice in the scenario you described above. Good luck.

First of all, you must check with your embassy regarding THEIR rules about weapon possession. You don't want to be breaking international laws and possibly cause difficulties being allowed to go home or use a passport.. Then, you need to check with the U.S. State Department about weapon possession by foreign nationals. You DEFINATELY don't want to break U.S. federal laws because you'ld NEVER be allowed back in this country and in these fascist times you could land in a concentration camp on a U.S. base in Cuba or elsewhere indefinately awaiting trial for weapons possession and being a terroristic "threat".Then, whatever school here that you are attending very likely does not permit weapon possession even off campus of any enrolled student. You don't want a college or University to cite you with the very serious crime of student possessing weapons because the schools here are all connected and you'ld never be allowed back into any school here. NEVER. THEN, check with the local police department regarding local and state regulations regarding weapon possession. State and local laws differ from county to county in some places related to if you are allowed to carry a weapon in your car, does the ammo have to be in a separate place in the car than the weapon, can you carry the weapon across county or state lines (some places you can, some places you can't,) etc. Become VERY familiar with all those local differences because what you can do or get away with in one community could get you sent to jail for seven years in the next place. If you are a minor, forget it.

i grow to be talking to a worker at sheels (in the gun portion of direction) and he reported that gun/ammo sales have lengthy previous up. i beleive that obama will attempt to eliminate guns yet in trouble-free words get the semi vehicles. it may well be very puzzling for him to totaly eliminate guns because to modify the structure you want congress and a finished of 35 states and some different stuff. yet im certain he will leap the taxes up on firearms. yet there are this style of number of ignorant people in immediately so who's customary with.

To purchase a gun, you have to be a resident of the state where you go to college. You have to provide ID, and pass an instant background check. If you fail to meet any of these requirements, you will NOT be able to buy a gun.

Rent the movie Lords of War. AK's are a dime a dozen if you talk to the right people. For something smaller, I'd go with the Uzi.
