You can't run win 95 programs on a win xp machine. The programs are built differently.

Here is the explanation from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/expert/durham_og.mspx

attempt transferring it to the inspiration of the inspiration of thechronic C: and replace attempt executing it from a DOS on the spot or attempt operating it in homestead windows ninety 5/ninety 8 compatibility mode. precise click flow right down to homes. The a concepts precise tab is compatibility. examine the top field. and choose homestead windows ninety 8 first. click ok. If the game then would not show an blunders message or complains about colors or decision you'll see 2 boxes on the bottom examine the top one if it says something about colors and the bottom if it says something about decision. "that's an older recreation" so that you do not favor any new hardware. that's a software problem. i'm able to assert that with fact.

You will have to run the program in compatibility mode. This will take some experimenting with the compatibility mode settings. To access compatibility mode wizard go to Start> All Programs> Accessories> Program Compatibility Wizard. This wizard will step you through setting up the game to play in XP. I got the original DOOM to play I know you can do it. Doom was a 95 game. I hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to email or IM me.

Right-click that executable, then select properties.
Select that "compatibility" tag, then check that box and select Windows 98 in the other one. It works usually, but Windows 95 executables aren't guaranteed to work on an XP system. (especially games)

Look for a free utility called DOSBOX online. Use that to load your game and you shouldn't have any problem playing it on an XP system. I've used it to play many old Dos/Windows95/Windows98 games on my system. And just right clicking on the executable and choosing Windows 98 compatibility mode didn't do it for me. But DOSBOX worked like a champ.

Good luck.
