If a guy says to a girl "te quiero mucho" what does that mean??

I know that it means something different than being exactly translated into English..so I am confused as when it is used, and if someone of the opposite sex says it, what does it mean??

THANK YOU! :)

I can speak quite a bit of Spanish, but I am still learning.

I knew "te amo" was I love you and I knew the literal translation of "te quiero" but I was unsure of which context it would be used in and why someone would say it and WHO they would say it to. Thank you for the help y'all! :)

It means he wants her, but it's more like "I like you a lot".

In relationships, good verbal communication DOES become important at some point. Either someone needs to speak more Spanish or someone else needs to speak more English. Or you could just skip talking and let it be a sexual thing, but that isn't the impression I get of you.

Te quiero mucho=I love you very much, can be said to a lover, family member or a friend, but Te amo=I love you is usually said to a lover, meaning more than just physical love

'Te quiero' is the usual Sp. way of saying 'I love you'.

The verb 'querer' means love/want/wish/like . . .

It means he wants you sexually. It doesn't mean he wants to marry you and raise your children.
