Dr. King and Mahatma Gandhi are my two heroes.

"While at seminary King became acquainted with Mohandas Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolent social protest. On a trip to India in 1959 King met with followers of Gandhi. During these discussions he became more convinced than ever that nonviolent resistance was the most potent weapon available to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom."

There is no evidence that MLK, Jr. ever felt that Mahatma Gandi was in hell. I know of no sermon or writing or speech where he ever referred to such a thing.

He adopted his belief in non-violent civil disobedience from Gandi though. So yes, therein Indian history met and influenced American history.

That's a really weird question, especially considering that the quote you've posted says MLK admired him.

Why in the world would he think Gandhi was in Hell? O_O
